another concept artwork for Antherea, was looking at making more maps for the world. so i can flesh out a better world map later.

some lore to give insight onto it:

"this is the so called "Albienan Archipelago", three large islands located at the Northwestern part of continental Hesperos. remnants of a larger and submerged peninsula, the islands of Eira, Alba and Bretanna have a shared culture since ancient times. originally settled during the ice age, many of its prehistoric locations arent the result of human activity, ar at least not the humans we are used to. when the sea was kilometers away and the glaciers covered most of the north, the peninsula was the home of the Neandar people (or at least their direct ancestors), the short folk developed a civilized culture at the time, and kept living on the three islands once the sea drowned the land. the proto-Neandars developed a sea faring culture around the so called "Sea of Albion" during the neolithic and many of their customs and developments were later adopted by the humans that settled on the islands with them.

one particular part of this relation remains on the nacient folklore of the isles. specially among the ancient Eirish tribes. as they were among the only people that watched the exodus of the proto-Neandars to Helgard at the time. according to the story, an anomalous weather has caused a large period of hunger on the islands, space has been cramped by both races, and conflict was forming among the humans and the short folk. the leader of them, whom his name has been lost to the time decided to explore the west in order to find a new home. for more than 20 days he was waited by his people who were slowly dying due to famine. at the 25th day, the leader of the Neandar people brought back news of a new island with plenty of space and resources. decided to leave the humans to their own thing, the Neandar tribes noticed the rest of the islands of their departure. all their settlements were abandoned, leaving the islands to the humans who had started to learn how to build cities, armor and weapons of their own.

that island located to the west was Helgard, the isle that heralds the realm of the north pole. after the Neandar left, that land would enter in the legends as "Tirnnaghrian" or "Island of the Sun" since the Eirish believed it was the place of rest of the Sun during the night. the Archipelago was also mythified to by the Neandar, being called "Tirnnabreith" or "Island of the Birth" by their later descendants.

in the current era, the islands on the Sea of Albion compose the so called "United Islands of Albiena", after being annexed by the Bretannan Monarchy, most of the politics are done by a unified parlament, with a Queen as mandatary. however, the royal family is composed of members of the former ruling houses of the three separated kingdoms. its current ruler is Queen Isabelle III, daughter of the former ruler, the Eirish queen Cassandra II and his husband Edward IV, Albish prince of Eidin. this custom was set by the original Queen Cassandra I of Tamesis, who was believed to have brought stability to Bretanna and the rest of the islands by unifying society under a common goal which was driving the invading Edalician armies out of the archipelago after his father Robert caused economical and social turnmoil."

I, personally, like it. Map making is pretty darn hard, especially on paper. You're sounding a little hostile there, Kot.

Very cool, man! If I might ask, what were you referencing to make that texture? I've never seen space like that.

Your colors are amazing! There's just the right balance of saturation to make everything vibrant without looking tacky. The color scheme's a winner and the armor detailing is great too.

Not thrilled with the text (my hand is cramping and I'm late posting this as it is, so away it goes), but it was mostly about the gun, which I think turned out pretty well since I've never... like... actually painted anything more complicated than a ball before.

I went ahead and posted a progress gallery Here because I always like when someone else does that. They're full size and the final image is kinda large, filesize-wise, because I brainfarted on the export format. Sorry.

While I'm at it... Here's the ball I mentioned, which was the first non-MSpaint-level painting I tried. Last night.
