Thanks! I'm not too proud of the quality personally, even thought I agree the shading is a strong point.
And now here's another thing, this time from a forum game I'm playing:

One thing I've noticed with krita is that the image gets blurred when I save it. Anyone knows how to stop it from happening? Maybe I need to save it in another format? I'm using jpeg right now

For pictures (like, camera-pictures), JPEGs are better from a size-based standpoint. Not really a problem for most people, but small file sizes are important if you're, for example, making a website. For most other things (logos, icons, and sometimes comics) PNGs are more useful. JPEGs also don't store transparency, so you'd have to use a PNG for any partially transparent images.

Also, I've found that JPEGs on higher quality settings are usually pretty much indistinguishable from PNGs at a glance (unless they contain lots of static or slight gradients). After a certain point, the difference becomes mostly inconsequential in practice.

(Which is also a thing I drew that I am posting here.) There is basically no contrast because I lost my only 6B pencil (and also because I undercompensated for scanner washout), which drops me back down to drawing with an HB clutch pencil, which is absolutely terrible for most styles of shading. The clouds are charcoal.

I can't find a shop that actually sells art pencils. One day...

And bonus version with further electronic fiddling that looks better but isn't actually an accurate representation of the drawing:

Also re: shading, i made a silly little thing in Game Maker yesterday.



Basically, it simulates shading on a sphere without actually using spheres. At the moment, all the spheres are at the same plane of altitude, but the light source can go up and down, and the lighting changes accordingly. You can try it out if you want, although it's probably not going to be amusing for more than a few seconds. It's mostly meant as a little tool to aid in shading. :v
