I love this, very nicely made! The only thing that bothers me is that many of the (implied) lines are a bit messy, but that's mostly just a matter of refinement. Not even kidding though, this is very, very nice.

One question though, Is it supposed to be only a head portrait or does it really have no body?

Such freehanding. Wow. I don't have the patience to draw lines in a structured way.

I had wanted to distort it along a sphere where the mouth is but it turned into the sickle thing at the bottom. Started out with the Giger-inspired head at the top and worked downwards. I guess a spindly Cacodemon is probably the closest fit to its actual biology if it has any.

For why, my normal artwork is always geared towards grokking the physics and geometry of life, generalized. This was just something really weird that happened when I tried and failed to do Giger's raging tubefetish.

That's something I always love to do. I had a pretty good example in one of my sketchbook. I think I'll try recreating it with my tablet.

Incidentally, that's what I love doing too!

I really should go back to some of my older stuff for inspiration, feel like I've fallen into a creative rut lately with mostly samey stuff coming out of my braincase.

If your braincase makes the same stuff, the logical solution is to take the samey stuff and catapult it into a new level of imagination. Gird it with samey-newness, and make monotony an art form.

Despair not Jopax, samey stuff is better than no stuff (which is my case right now). An obvious solution would be to draw the samey stuff until you run out of samey stuff and then you can make new stuff again!!
