Chess Varient: Defend and Fortify

A space may be occupied by up to 2 pieces.
A capture does not take place normally; instead you must move a piece into a space that is already occupied by one of your pieces AND the piece you want to capture.
This means an enemy piece can move onto a space that is occupied by one of yours without capturing yours.
The exceptions are the King and Queen, who are captured normally if any enemy piece moves onto their space.
Rooks, Bishops, and Queens may move through and past spaces only occupied by one piece, instead of stopping.
The board starts with two pawns on each starting space instead of one each.
Pawns may now move up to three spaces on their first move, or if the move would result in a captured piece (meaning the target space must have one of your own and an opponent's piece), one to the side and one or two forward (still only on the first move).

Players start with two additional rooks, located with the bishops.

There is a new piece, the Archer, who can normally only move  one space orthogonally (like a king without diagonals); but when moving a piece from a space containing an archer, you may move the archer with it (and instantly capture a piece they land on). Players start with two archers, on the spaces containing their knights. However, the downside is that if an enemy piece moves onto a space containing an archer, it immediately captures the archer and any other piece on that space.

This seems neat, but you need four chess sets in order to play. You also have to specially mark the two pieces that are the Archers.

Drew a quick sketch in SAI after looking at a screenshot from an anime for a bit. Satisfied with how it came out. Took ~30 minutes. Could work on it more but I'm tired. In retrospect there's some more shading I could've done, but eh. Already in the midst of posting this. Put the gray in so the lines stood out more, then put darker gray so the shading stood out more.

Fairly certain necks can't bend like that without snapping something, but anime cares not for rules such as realistic anatomy or realistic laws of physics.
