How can people make something in hour that looks better than my masterpieces made over the course of several days is beyond me... :S

Ooh man, that's really cool. How long did that take?

I'm reworking my tileset because I stopped being a fan of the colours and started working on a smaller tileset. It uses the same irregular walls, this time 16x24.
I just discovered that trying to hand-place irregular tiles is terribly tedious and hard on the hands. My pinky finger is tired and this is what I've got in a test dungeon:

That is the kind of stuff that would make somebody hit themselves in the head for not thinking about that.
it is also executed really nicely too, I like the remote sniper rifle (railgun?) design.

people get better at doing the stuffs over times. But being able to keep going on on a drawing over several days is also pretty good (for the record I'm totally incapable of doing that for now.)!

Well a part of the answer is that the background is for the most part two photos bashed together and then painted over. Mostly because the focus is the charachter and the drone so there's no point in wasting precious time (the limit is one hour) in painting that. And the designs themselves are fairly simple and not that detailed so it's more about getting the general shapes and values right. Something I messed up with slightly when it comes to the dude and his feet which look horrible.

Also the idea isn't all that unique, something I've figured out about halfway into it is that it's very similar to the drone teams the Tau field in WH40k.

Also also yeah, doing short pieces and doodles is all well and fine but the real challenge is working on something for hours on end without getting utterly sick of it. Something that I've accomplished only a handful of times so far.

To be fair I also kind-of struggle with that at times, but since most of my pieces are extremely minimalistic (and admittedly repetitive from time to time) I usually get them done in a few hours tops, but I think I still have a lot of unfinished drawings in my Krita folder.

The longest part was waiting for the paint to dry. About a weeks worth of work that got stretched out over the entire summer

I like it, he's pretty cute!
His right arm seems to vanish. (unless it's holding the pan from underneat?) I think his torso is a bit tall, too. Looks like an extra inch of tallness from his waist.

Thanks. I had the right arm sketched, then realized it was held to stiffly for a brisk walk and decided it would be better under the pan. I think you're right about the legs being out of proportion with the torso, and I've been having a bit of difficulties with that in the last few days, trying to get started on drawing regularly again. Guess I should start flipping my sketches to double-check everything.


Not happy with this. Can't be bothered to more effort right now. Need to spend more practice on getting ideas across through sketches.
