Dang that's actually really good.

I finally got around to a new pixel thing!

It's just an outline right now but wow GIMP is really good for pixel things once I got it figure out. I have a shitty cable for my tablet so I don't have any pressure sensitivity and it lags the initial touch but I'm pretty proud of this outline.

Anything I should fix before I move on? His nose looks a little funny, but it's only four pixels at the widest. And I think his shoulders are a little funny.

I built a battleaxe tonight to go along with my shield. The connection of the handle to the head is all wonky, but eh. Not bad for an hours work.

The axehead is 1/2 inch ply, cut to a vaguely axe like shape, sanded down to a point and rounded on the blade side. The handle is a 4 foot sectoion of old broom handle. It's attached just with a few screws and two plates.

The shield is also 1/2 inch ply, cut in a 26 inch diameter circle. Two straps on the back, one adjustable, the other fixed. The shield is lined with 3 strips of 1/2 inch rawhide, stretched while wet, held in place with nails at each end and furniture tacks the rest of length. A small rectangle of rawhide covers each overlap of the strips. It's painted to prevent rotting.

I'm mapping Westeros and Essos from the Song of Ice and Fire series. This is Valyria, before the Doom turned it into a smoking wasteland full of demons. Black dots mark the major cities of the Empire.

Water & coastlines are placeholder, hence their general terribleness.

Indeed. The Valyrians were prolific slavers and built the roads to facilitate both trade and hasten the acquisition and distribution of slaves over their empire. The road network actually covers a much larger portion of western Essos, extending into the Free Cities and Slaver's Bay, but I haven't got to those areas yet.

My only problem with this is that I don't have enough colors: most of my time was spent trying to find out different mixtures of colors that would give me a color vaguely close to what I needed.
