Each one took about 3 hours straight (usually drawn during class or a lunch break), and after a year or so afterward, an additional hour of refining details. All done in mechanical pencil (0.5mm unless I can find thinner), no pre-drawing, references, rulers, etc. Just my hands and eyes (despite pretty crappy vision (20/40 or something)).

EDIT:
Looking back at the stuff I have yet to sketch, no wonder why eldritch abominations and such don't really phase me anymore, and stuff like Dwarf Fortress and even anime caught my attention. Yeesh. Some of these things were such nightmares I forgot I wanted to forget about them. Nowadays, those same memories intrigue me. Believe me when I say that those 15-minute images don't do what they represent justice.

Yup. Wheels.

It looks a bit top heavy. Are you going to add cross bracing?

Actually, notice the pneumatic pistons at the base of both those vertical arm assemblies. There are also hinges down there. When triggered, the arms fall about 50 degrees outward, and then can be raised back up. Since both always trigger at the same time, no CG issues. Not like the aluminum structure has any effect on the 40 pounds of ld-acid batteries in the base.

Combined fire from the inward front engines allows for it to backburn it's targets with intense heat. Basically, it's got a flamethrower and a fireball cannon (Anti-infantry) kudos to the cannons and an alternate firing method they have nearby.[/spoiler]
This is another one of those Bladeships I mentioned. I want to render it in 3D so bad. And yes, it has sub-engines on its wings to allow it to spin like a boomerang, offensively, as in dice up infantry and other craft. Maybe not the most practical design, but kinda why it operates on a solid fuel or solid-state propulsion/power/fuel instead of liquid/gas powered (like crystals and magnets of some crazy sort). So it doesn't blow up on it's first kill. Same applies to other Aviar-Kai ships. As you'd expect, for avian-based races, something like a hummingbird would be at the helm (reactions and adaptable frame for the impacts. Also why the cockpit would look like it was made for a child.). Nonetheless, imagine the reactions of anyone's first time seeing these things fight, especially once you see a squadron start spinning like mad. They PREFER melee combat IN THE FUCKING SKY, with their ships.

Great drawing and idea... and the melee idea actually physically possible; the right airfoil with a forward shaped wing can indeed spin like a boomerang and still fly. Ok if I add a small flying model of this to the 'to attempt' list of mad things?

Like I mentioned, there's a way for regular old boats to even reach the island via upward waterfalls and air-foils/parachutes/water-wings that catch the upward flow and use the negative force from the pulled water to propel upward. Think of it like using umbrellas shaped like wings catching water to use as ballast and a means of lift (some upward winds also contribute). For descent, same parachutes have a vented duct that can control the flow to continue catching water, but also let more out safely to descend in a similar manner; come and think of it, I want to make those boats now to show how they'd work. Anyway, said waterfalls are filtered through the land in a contained aquifer, acting as a filter, which can also be purged by either pulling up freshwater lakes or using surplus water within other aquifers to clean the main one of the salts and impurities collected. Of course, there are also distilleries within the main infrastructure that can also cleanse the prime aquifer of impurities and extracting the island's primary export, salt, which can also be blessed for magical purposes. Explains the water income for the residents, as well as financial income via trade. Just as well, seeing as it's a really big floating island, and it can navigate while at it, it can also be piloted towards clouds, and thunderstorms, and in case any typhoons or hurricanes are a threat to the island, the island can avoid them on the whims of the high-councils that are the central government of the island (In case of droughts, or farmers need a boost (water from the clouds and enrichment from lightning), find a nimbus-cloud to fly into).

Go ahead. Floating islands, especially of such scale, I don't often see anywhere, and are a challenge to make look right.

I want to see some of these ships made in X-Plane or any flight simulator to see if they would actually work (flying normally, and spinning). You may get sick when it spins. I can try, but I'm still new to 3D modeling, plus coding them would be a bit of a pain. Boomerangs aren't the only melee bladeships either (SEE: Kunai Drop Pods in an earlier post; 3D render provided). Basically, I've attempted to translate as many melee weapons into ships as I could think of. Some needed some creative control to make them look less like their weapon counterpart to render them more aerodynamic for flight purposes (not all craft have Star Wars repulsor lifts), while still having weight balance well enough to still be a contact weapon made for ramming speeds, including capital ships as a last resort. Of course, for the sticklers, they do have guns on them just in case ramming or melee fighting is too impractical (more than already noticeable).

Oh, right, you can build some of these things. If you can make a practical version of any of my creations (given current technological limitations), that would be awesome. Hell, anyone have a 3D printer to make any of my 3D models, I'll be willing to even pay to have them tangibly produced and sent my way. I mean, some of my creations would be model-kit worthy, if I knew how to produce them properly, and a way to dis-assemble them model-wise so we can assemble them physically.

Huehuehue. You're talking to a freelance engineer who likes to build random things in his spare time. If you have somethin you really want done/built, let me know. My 3D printer is currently FUBAR due to a run-in with a particular demon feline, but I'm quite accomplished in wood & metal handcrafting too. I love a challenge.

After watching some tutorials about various inkscape projects, I figured out how the spiro path works. It is lovely. I managed this in roughly a half hour, whereas before it wouldn't ever have been finished if I had used my extremely limited knowledge of the program.

Link because image is as big as Rihanna's forehead.
I can't even shading...
Done 100% with the mouse (excluding a pen sketch done in 2 minutes flat and hotkeys/shortcuts in Paint.NET).

How did I claim him to be a humanoid shark is beyond me, but whatever, he's a thing now.

Unfinished:

I'm going to alter the shading a bit again (funnily enough it's made from two previous shading attempts) and also shade the lineart. It's going to be awesome once I get my lazy buttocks and actually do it tomorrow.

Any tips for a potential drawer?  I can't even begin to say how much I want to be able to draw, but I keep on making more and more unfinished sketches without completing much.
Also I'm a HUUUUUUGE NEERRRRD so I'm trying to draw things in a manga-style, mostly because I like the eyes and it's easier on my brain when shading.
I mainly have trouble with noses, ears and drawing clothes realistically.

I probably should've been more specific about what I needed help with... anyway I drew this a hellova long time ago but I still think it's one of my better drawings which, frankly, isn't saying much.
It's kinda big.
