Do you have the sea on its own layer? Blur it up a little. The land is the focus.

A touch more playing around. now using the same noise map for sea and land so it fits a touch better. But regardless, today i've gone from never having done imaging before to being able to quickly make relatively decent maps. i am happy with this.

I'll be honest: that doesn't make me think of sea, more like "psychedelic RPG final boss background".

yeah, the colours are a bit off, but I couldn't be arsed to go back and change it.

Heh, funny I come in here and others are sharing maps recently too. I just made one and then fancied it up by following a tutorial from a member of the Cartographers Guild forums. I made a few mistakes along the way, most notably with the mountains - not sure exactly how and where it went wrong, though - but it turned out acceptable anyway, IMO.

Not sure what I want to do with it yet. I may end up adding locations of cities, towns, castles, whathaveyou and mark off national borders if I do anything more with this. I have been wanting to start up a Fantasy web serial for a few weeks now and I've also considered perhaps doing a forum game of some sort with some of the things I've been working on. Not sure yet.

At any rate, say hello to the world of Mythis:

THIS SWAMP CREATURE

It reminds me of the swamp boss in Painkiller, which brings both fond and painful memories of trying to beat the bastard. Excellent. c:

TODAY

i mixed the fact that mega corporations in Shadowrun typically have dragons at their tops with the fact that Kellogg's is a mega corporation in our world

AND WHAT DO WE GET?

BESIDES A NONE TOO GREAT DRAWING?

WE GET

the kellogg's dragon

but to conceal that fact they took his obviously rooster-resemblant features and made him a rooster instead

guess I haven't posted here in a while. care for a bigger update?
most of my stuff goes on my tumblr anyways

'finished' this mid 2013, added the mushrooms and more or less abandoned it because it was pissing me off and didn't care to work on it any longer. didn't really do anything of note until a bit later

some small/rather fast stuff of the last couple months

a newer one. OH THE MERMANITY!

started this one a few days ago and it's giving me a headache

just taking a break from this guy

there often comes a point where I get super frustrated and/or stop caring
no idea what to do about it really but pull through
the first few hours always go by so fast and I enjoy working on it
when it's time to clean up I often lose interest

Spoiler: Vidya Game (click to show/hide)
Well, what do you know! It almost looks like an crappy actual video game!

Years of derping around with programming and animating and whatnot has finally led to this: a reasonably well-programmed game with crappy graphics. I really need to get better at texturing, but that'll come in time. And with tutorials. Those help.

Anyway, that's a picture from a game I'm working on with the working title of 'Medieval Ghostbusters'. Naturally, the demo level has a Victorian aesthetic to further confuse the time-frame of the game.

@Araph

Obviously, medieval refers to the ghosts, not the busters thereof.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
