Not quite razor, it's going to be banged up pretty soon so it isn't worth the filing.

Going from a 1.5 thick bar to the knife there took about 5 hours.
Have more pictures, I even made a copper sheath for it. The edge doesn't contact the copper.

Well, coilsprings are meant to be tough, not hard. They are meant to take stretching, and in the case of vehicle springs, meant to take the stresses of having a couple tons of metal bouncing on you. So what that means for the knife is it's going to be hard to break, but it's not going to hold much of an edge for long.

It's going to be transported in a bit, so the blade might be nicked. Instead of going through the hassle of finishing it twice I'll just do it once. I'll even be able to make a proper leather sheath.

Well, coilsprings are meant to be tough, not hard. They are meant to take stretching, and in the case of vehicle springs, meant to take the stresses of having a couple tons of metal bouncing on you. So what that means for the knife is it's going to be hard to break, but it's not going to hold much of an edge for long.

The coilspring i made it out of was either 1090 or 5160, and 5160 is perfectly fine for knives. I'd prefer knives to bend than to explode into razor sharp pieces of death.

I've also been going over a few different ideas for projects. One was a traditionally made chest, made mostly from 3/4" square bar and 1.5"x1/4 stock, mostly riveted. That would require about a hundred rivets, I think the total came to 93.
A much simpler design would be my other project, a small jewelry box with a latch and lock. It has a very animistic look to it, at least from my concept drawings. best yet instead of having over 200 different pieces it would have about 20, it would also be about 100lbs lighter.

I approve of the blacksmithing stuff greatly, it is a manly art and as such it is awesome.

it gives grayscale images the colours you'd otherwise expect full-colour images to have

it must be pretty crazy to have inverse colour blindness.............
