I was sorta inspired by some games to use a central hub in some cases (like Chrono Trigger and The End of Time), but also take advantage of the compact nature of command blocks, and make the Central Hub something pretty cool. In some cases, advanced technology, other cases, magic, and in some other cases, technological magic, and magical technology. It's a melting pot of random. Current theme is interactive art gallery/temple of artifacts (that lead to interesting places, generated or made) when interacted with. Sounds a bit like Myst in some ways too. Some artifacts and such, I might even make it activate a teleporter by dropping something onto a pressure plate. It should be able to return the sacrifice, or at least provide them. Like a chicken egg launcher, spawned chicken activates a pressure plate that sends you somewhere (maybe horrifying (Like the Netheral-Hub; or Enderal-Hub)), while being incinerated in the process, at least for witnesses to watch it happen when multiplayer'd.
Here's what's currently available.
From Left to Right:
(Time Shrine) (Exit Door (Pending other possible uses)) (Main Entrance) (Pending Hallway) (Sand Castle Shrine) (Altar to Original Spawn Coordinates (Might move elsewhere; it's blocking the door))
And to see what the ceiling looks like. Neat huh?
A view from above. The beacon lights and the color variety was inspired by the floating island and how different sky-scrapers were shooting beams of light out of them; this was a good reminder, especially being able to shoot black beams of light. That one gave me some cool ideas. I like that Minecraft allows this.
Here's where you come in from:
The Entryway to the Sand Castle.
Or more formally "The Ultimate Beach". I do like the floor work I put into it, since you do spawn on a beach.
The Altar of Beginnings
Which basically just returns you to the original spawn point when I first genned the landscape.
The Altar of the Time Siblings: Luna and Sol
Pray to Luna for Night Time or pray to Sol for Day Time.
I find this would be handy for certain locations with the right mood and lighting setup. I have yet to meet the other gods of weather.
