I've been meaning to do this for over a year. Now that I'm throwing sketches into an animation each day, I've run out of excuses to procrastinate. Other than re-doing that bird flight, I mean.

Spoiler: Spin! Spinnn! (click to show/hide)

Like your bird animation, the head doesn't warp oddly and retains it's shape. Nice work.

...I should start resizing my stuff...soon.

Anyways, did some character pinup or whatever for a manga I'm more or less working on.

Very, very nice! Excellent lines and posing you've got going, and everything just flows well in general. The only little nitpick i can produce is that there's something slightly off about her eyes, and it's not just the cat-like pupils that are clearly intentional. It might be the way her eyes are focused; it looks like she should be looking directly at you, but the focal point seems to be just a bit off to the side. It is possible that i'm just seeing things that aren't like that in reality, though. :v

also last night i finally made another worthwhile doodle

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Tried to up the detail level on the face just a little bit, because why not? I also found a ridiculously cheeky way of lining up the snout on snouted faces like those of dinosaurs and i can't believe i didn't think of that before, especially since i've actually read about the TWO CIRCLES approach in a tutorial before. :v

;v; Thank you very much ! Just noticed that, originally she was kind of worried/sad looking but my roommate came in and told me I should stop making my characters look like that so I erased the face and re-did it. I probably lost something in the transition, indeed, she was supposed to look directly and the camera, I think it's because the right pupil is a little to the left.

Anyone like two-player 90's-esque racing games?

Controls are as follows:

Player 1: Arrow keys to move, Shift to jump, [ and ] to change color left or right (top right corner shows which colors are to the left and right of current)
Player 2: WASD to move, Space to jump, Q and E to change colors

Wow, at full size that's a biiiiiig image. Is it easier to work with large resolutions like that? The most I do is usually 1280x800 or something along those lines. Never tried something like 4248x2896.

Aye, I find it easier to work on details like eyes and such while still keeping it crisp, and then I can't resize it properly either because it loses the tone patterns. Though I also work with the idea that I'm printing them to hang around my room and stuff.

I guess it's like zooming in to work with smaller details, except you're working at normal size instead of zooming in and thus get a higher resolution. :v

also today marks one of the rare few days where i actually coloured one of my doodles

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

i don't do that enough

Working close in all the time is dangerous though. You get lost in doing all the little details and risk messing up the big picture, which is always more important than the details. Easiest to check this is by zooming out and squinting your eyes, if it reads well like that then you're good, if not, well, you have some revising to do :D

Also, I've been convinced to start posting stuff from my current sketchbook before I'm done with it. Since I already have some scanned and have nothing else to do right now I'll start posting these daily I guess.

So here's day one:

The reason why I got into vector art was because I suck at digital painting don't have to worry about size or pixelation.

I made a copper rose for MY S.O, because real roses are overpriced and rot after a few days.

I treated the petals with sodium borate to give them a reddish appearance. I added leaves to the stem, but they ended up being pretty sharp so I pulled them off. Over time, the stem should oxidize and turn green.

Sorry for the delay, here's yesterday:

And today:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Things generally get a bit more interesting after the first few pages anyways, I was still nervous about it being a new sketchbook and everything that entails, especially because it was a rather special birthday gift too.
