That hologram finish took about eight tries to get right, but the result is awesome. There's no coating or finish, that's just straight-up Aluminum machined in a certain pattern. The surface feels perfectly flat to the touch.

Working with proper machines sounds like a ton of fun! That is some wizardry on that aluminum.

Now that I think about it, it does. Those colors are very smooth and vibrant, with a sort of chill blue overtone.

I have to say, drawing on a tablet is so much more comfortable, effective and gives off much nicer results than whatever I could come up with with a mouse. Except when the tablet driver dies in which case I have to restart my PC...

Also here's a super-duper gigaplex version for when I add other elements to it if anyone wants to make it their background or whatever. It helps me do some more development by just looking at it a lot!
(for the sense of scale, the America-like continents on the west are around the size of, well, Americas. Some parts were subconsciously inspired by Earth but I only realized it after I finished the whole thing. Funny how that worked.)

lets see... started off with a lava render, then used wind a couple times.  Then used the predator filter under artistic and did something to the layer mode... and a couple unsharp masks in there, oh yea, and a 5 pixle randomization

I'm not quite sure why Salvador Dali looks like that but hey. It's just Salvador Dali. He always had a peculiar appearance.
