Looks a bit like a kobold, imo

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

There any good places to advertise for commissions, aside from setting up a personal site or using DeviantART?

I've had a dA account for three years. It doesn't seem a very good place to get noticed.

It's pretty easy to find commission work if you're willing to draw other people's characters (and can do it at least marginally better than the people who created those characters). But, from observing my dA friends, therein lies the path to the dark side.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Migrating to other, more sordid gallery sites and doing the artistic equivalent of giving out $5 blowjobs.

Or, falling not quite as far, filling your gallery with other people's ill-conceived character designs.

Was fiddling around with a neat desktop background of Hatsune Miku in gimp. First I found out that the invert looks hella cool.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Then I tried layering and erasing so that the original colored Miku shows up under the inverted colors. Made for a neat effect.

so yeah.

I feel like the hair part that's still inverted needs to be re-colourised, as well, but other than that it's pretty cool.

Or maybe even leaving part of the face and eyeball inverted. Is possible to fade into? Though, I suppose that'd leave a nice chunk of gray in there  ???

Something like this?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Basic strategy here was, draw a path to delineate what I don't want inverted (this was the most time-consuming bit), Select From Path and copy that to a new layer. Then, duplicate that new layer. Invert the background, then on the lower duplicate, Stroke Path with the Smudge tool, with Emulate Brush Dynamics checked, an Acrylic brush I downloaded from who knows where, Jitter set to a largish value, and the brush itself made fairly large. Then blur, then Stroke again. Then select from path and use one of the other select tools, set to Intersection, to select only the eyes - hit delete to clear up the blurriness there. Then go up to the top layer, and Stroke Path, again with the Smudge tool, but with a smaller, simple round brush. I took a few screenshots, if they'd be helpful for anybody.

Stupid art trick: Smudge tools, when Jitter is enabled, act as a really effective spot blur.

Bauglir, you are a god. Saving that to my hard drive.

I toyed around with the pathing tool in gimp, but couldn't figure out what it was used for.
