This is what I get for watching the opening animation of The Legend of [Robin Williams' Daughter]: Link to the Past.
Nice!

Prepare your eyeholes, I am about to start uploading a truckbutt (a real measure!) of scans from the sketchbook I just finished.

Edit: And it's done, that took way too long so I'll just leave the descriptions on the deviations, if you want those you'll have to feed my page views, muahahha!

Anyways, here's almost 20 pieces:
Spoiler: REALLY REALLY BIG!! (click to show/hide)

I do hate how poorly the scans have turned out but I just can't bring myself to touch up each and every one of these until they look like they should.

Here's the full gallery btw.

Those are all, utterly, insanely amazing. Walkers are great, alliums are great, cool desert wasteland scenes are great.

This was supposed to be a bunny boy with droopy ears but he started to look like a chinchilla/beagle I guess

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Regardless of what he is, he's adorable.

Sorry for butting in but didn't want to waste a thread on one question
I'm thinking of writing a story based on an r2d game I made for my friends and was wondering if it's ok to post part of what I write in a thread and update it whenever I write more

If it's just writing, you should check out the Writer's Apprentice thread. Some people post stories in parts and update them there.

Isn't that a thing lots of people do? I'm sure it's fine.

Also, great art everyone! I might post something sometime.

Bauglir, may I ask tips and permission on how to create these logos ._.
Been thinking of such designs in the long time my..err, RTD has been stagnant, and also in worldbuilding.
Is there any program which helps you do this kind of art or is it all manual?

Step 1: Familiarize yourself paths in GIMP. They make a marvelous way to get really precise shapes and stuff, even without a tablet. If you know how to use Inkscape, or some other vector graphics program, you know how to use an even more versatile tool for the same basic thing. General tips:
Use as few nodes as possible for a given thing
Use as few handles as possible for a given segment
Make use of straight lines, the rotation tool, and the basic shapes GIMP gives you access to in order to keep track of geometry
Copy-paste frequently. Whenever you're going to use a shape more than once, really. Paths scale to arbitrary resolutions, so that also helps with reuse.

Step 2: Come up with a design. This is probably the hard part, and it's entirely manual.

Step 3: Assuming GIMP, you'll want to go to Edit>Stroke Path and use that to trace your design, once you've laid down the paths describing it. I've found that the Ink tool can offer some neat effects here, making it look more like a brush stroke.

Step 4: Special effects. In my case, I copy the design, blur it, and then Colorize it to give it a color I want. Set it to Hard Light blending mode. That makes the glow. Then I copy that layer, render some solid noise clouds, Colorize them to a different color for highlights, and paste the glow layer as a layer mask for the clouds. Usually twice, since one paste is too faint. Playing around with brightness/contrast, blend modes, and occasionally filters, is fun here.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Indeed. When I'm making something serious I always do a rough, shitty-looking sketch on a sheet of blank paper first. I use that as a starting point, and the project grows and evolves from there within the program.
