Yeah, that's what I used to do before I finally worked out how to make git do things. Nothing wrong with it really, at least with small projects you're working on yourself.

Get yourself SourceTree, and make a bitbucket or github projects for your stuff. Much better than the manual copy regime, once you invariably end up with heaps of different copies of the thing floating around.
