It's weird, every time I see one of those they always have different languages at the top. Maybe it's where they pull the commits from or maybe it's just the criteria they use, or maybe it's the "wieghtings" (swear count? Swear-commit ratio? Swear-project ratio?). My favourite showed Javascript as having like a 10x higher ratio than any other language. It appeals to my biases :)

Although I will say that I swear at JavaScript far more often than PHP.  I haven't actually put any swearing in a commit for either, but that's largely because I feel like I'm breaking some sort of unspoken etiquette at work if I do so.  :)  Instead I usually leave long ranting multiline comments about how X thing is absolutely stupid about [non]feature Y in language Z.

It's times like this I wish I was coding in C++: storing multiple, different things in one list/vector/map/dictionary.

Does anyone use MonoDevelop?

Im using the one that bundles with Unity, and about 50% of the time I click on one of the right-most tabs, it selects a completely different tab instead. Which is infuriating. I cant find anything on the internet about it either.

Indent preferences should never mess up blocking. 
My major complaint about Python.
Yes, indenting should be encouraged.
But never enforced as part of the language standard.
This is why the meta-x indent-region extension exists in Emacs.

Reformat the bloody thing on the fly to match your preferences.
Not vision of the language designers.

Proper formating of code is nice, but should never cause compilation/runtime errors.

I only hate Java a little. It is great for me because a) LWJGL, b) Eclipse, and c) insane portability.

I think nowadays if I wanted the JVM, I'd try my damnedest to go with Scala over Java. Built on the JVM so lets you access to all the Java libraries you want, but fixes a lot of Java's quirks.

I've started looking at some of the C# features because of Unity, and... damn. Some of that stuff is pretty nice!
