The same thing happens when I run the Unicurses test programs: there are no errors, but the shell doesn't display anything. Is IDLE incompatible with Unicurses or something? I tried running the test programs with PyScripter as well, but that didn't work.

Can you execute the code directly instead of from the IDE?  It wouldn't surprise me if IDE's didn't have any kind of support to display curses, it was meant for a terminal I think.

Is there a way to make it so that IDLE tracks whitespace with tabs instead of spaces automatically when I open a file?  Needing to click it everytime I open a files is sloooooowly driving me insane.  Alternatively, can anyone suggest an IDE for python that handles separate modules better then notepad++?

Tabs are not pythonic, so deal with it :P

A bunch of spaces in a row at the start is just irrational.  We have a grammar entity specifically for that contingency, it's called a tab.

Spaces are cross-platform and cross-IDE :P But let's not start THAT flamewar :D

You're right, let's end it once and for all.  What's the IDE equivalent of nuclear warfare?

I use spyder for my python IDE. Dunno if it'd suit your purposes.

Also tabs are awesome. Fuck spaces.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Vim or Emacs?

The obvious answer is "set up vim to swap tabs for spaces". :v

Personally I have the most pleasurable coding experience with:
C++: Visual Studio 2013 + Visual Assist X + Resharper for C++
C#: Visual Studio 2013 + Resharper
Java: IntelliJ
Javascript/Typescript/Coffeescript/HTML: WebStorm
PHP: PhpStorm

But I define "best IDE" by "Can relaibly make the biggest changes to code in the fewest button presses"

guys help

Okay, so I have a WAMP-based testing server, and when I run this php code on it

Code: [Select]
<?php
$cookie
= (isset($_COOKIE["adventure"]) ? $_COOKIE["adventure"] : null);
if(
$cookie!=null)
{
$adventure="000006060000000000";
setcookie("adventure","000006060000000000",time()+(86400 7));
}
echo
$cookie;
?>

it predictably displays the cookie when I load the page and refresh. However, when I upload cookietest.php to my extremely high-quality remote site (a subfolder of dexworks.net), the cookie isn't set. PHP's installed on the remote server, and phpinfo() looks similar enough. I've also tried these:

Code: [Select]
setcookie("adventure","000006060000000000",time()+(86400 * 7),"/","dexworks.net");
setcookie("adventure","000006060000000000",time()+(86400 * 7),"/Ffschooler/","www.dexworks.net",1);

etc. WHAT CAN I DO to set this cookie? (I know cookies are allowed on the server in general because dexworks.net uses Wordpress on the main site).
