Have you tried... the Python page?

http://www.python.org/getit/

Seriously it is right there. win32, java, .NET, any of those implementations should work fine for you.

well, I was gonna get python, but they don't have a 32 bit version for windows.

or at least, I can't find one :/

Just use Cygwin. It's a complete set of tools that creates a Linux-like environment in Windows. It makes python, gcc, and various other programming tools really easy to install and use.

I'll try to explain what I know about prototyping after I get off of work, if I get off of work. :(

nope. I genuinely can't. I tried, I even tried the search function, but nothing is appearing. 86 bit, 64 bit... but 32 bit? nope.

x86 is just the intel architecture, and the default for that right now is 32-bit. (It started as 16-bit)

64 bit is described as x86-64.

It's...complicated.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86
Quote
As the term became common after the introduction of the 80386, it usually implies binary compatibility with the 32-bit instruction set of the 80386. This may sometimes be emphasized as x86-32 or x32 to distinguish it either from the original 16-bit "x86-16" or from the 64-bit x86-64. Although most x86 processors used in new personal computers and servers have 64-bit capabilities, to avoid compatibility problems with older computers or systems, the term x86-64 (or x64) is often used to denote 64-bit software, with the term x86 implying only 32-bit.

x86 is just a shortening for the 8086 chip architecture.

It has literally nothing to do with the bits. (Well, technically the bits are PART of the architecture, but not the part it describes nowadays)

It's actually, from what I understand, a pretty terrible architecture, x86, but it's so widely used that no one can afford to switch to a better one really.

I solved it! All I had to do was define BOOST_SYSTEM_NO_DEPRECATED and it magically worked. Yay for being desperate and trying everything.

Erm, for some reason I fail to understand string.split().

Code: [Select]
s = 'aa>bb>cc'

def GC_Content(s):
    s.split('>')
    return s

print(GC_Contents(s))

This just returns 'aa>bb>cc' instead of ['aa','bb','cc']. Where did I fail?

s = s.split(">"), perhaps?

Edit: maybe even better: return s.split('>')

Disclaimer: I know exactly zero Python :)
