Don't even feel bad, on my fort I've had 9 artifacts and all of them have been wooden crafts. Any dwarves that produce them from here on are being executed for supporting elves.

So far I've had horrible artifacts in Zimber as far as usability goes.

On 21 Hematite 252, my craftsdwarf created Zanor Bekar the cobaltite earring.  Value of 7200 Urists, as it includes some copper, in addition to the orthoclase and two lumps of cobaltite used.  The useful bit was that he's now legendary stonecrafter and thats what I'm exporting.

Then on 25 Limestone 252 a woodcutter gets all fey, and creates ... Guznimak (Simplequill) the limestone trumpet that menaces with spikes of limestone.  * sigh *  But ... he's now my second legendary stonecrafter.  Which reminds me, I need to build a second craftshop.

Then on 12 Opal 252 my weaponsmith withdraws from society ... and makes Ultertegir (Commonbreeds) the copper menacing spike ... studded with copper.  Of course, I now see why folks suggest selling trap components.  The damn thing is worth 18,240 Urists!  The good is that he's now near legendary (he had very low skill, but was the best I'd found so far of my 55 dwarves), the bad is that I don't use traps but armed dwarves as defense.

So, I would have loved to have gotten a crossbow, especially since I just formed a marksdwarf squad to try and kill that damn giant eagle that keeps breaking peoples hands.

Wooden crafts are anti-elven! Why do you think they get so pissed when you sell it to them? Because you're cutting down trees.

Erm... There's nothing to actually hate Elves about. Other then their hatred for cutting down trees. They're an endangered species now, because too many Elf retreats are cut down or flooded in magma. Stop this madness now, and adopt an Elf.

Also, got 5 artifact swords in the course of several years, 1 artifact shield, 2 artifact crossbows and 1 artifact helm. My dwarves like war, it seems.
