I'd go ahead about a week, find out what all the previous lottery numbers were, then put them to good use when i get back.

Sure, there's all kinds of thing you could go see, but you can either go see something cool and then have to come back to struggling with life and the economy and shit, or simpy see the lottery numbers and come back able to improve your life. It may only be a once-in-a-lifetime oppotunity, but i guess i'm practical and money-loving :P.

So... time travel and a boxing match with the fellow?

Fellow's got quite a bit named after 'im, whoever he is. Wiki stuff's making me wonder if I haven't seen the name before, hrm. Days I wish I hadn't lost my interest in becoming fluent in mathematic. Most of the stuff's really easy to understand when it's actually translated into plain english, it's just getting to that point :-\

I'd want to witness an in depth 21st-22nd century history lesson two hundred years from now. If only to leave the famished regions before they appeared.

Earth, circa 2212, just to see how (if) we're doing.

Being able to see alternative timelines. Why not see what it would be like taking another path? Who knows, maybe your life is an action movie because you took up high risk mercenary work.

I would like to observe all of human society getting over the association fallacy within the next couple of weeks. That'd be pretty awesome. We'd probably have to close the progressive rage thread, though.

We can use this power to make incredibly implausible things happen, right? As long as nobody is ever cognizant that we observed it? Like the time machine examples. I guess we'd have to go into complete seclusion for a while or something so that, outside of whatever we're using to observe this, we only view the consequences of whatever we observe. The big bang being an option suggests that this is a valid strategy.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Might that particle be a plank?

Alright, because of the obvious answers of 'everything' and...

If I posted that here, I'd almost certainly be banned, and likely I'd be arrested.

...we'll try a few additional constraints. You have one day with the perceptions of a normal human, and it can't be sexual. For example, I would like to witness the moon landing.
Who said anything about it being sexual?  Perverts.
Yeah, maybe he was talking about his house which has seven days of food in it. Vile terrorist.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Of course we're all made of little planks. Ever kill a wild Ox? You need an axe. You also need an axe for  trees. Therefore they are made of the same stuff. An Ox needs an axe to kill a human, so therefore we fit in the same category. QED

I would observe God's thought process on making the Platypus, and maybe smoke some of what He was having at the time He made it.

I could imagine whatever He was having at a supernatural level would make you higher than the heavens themselves.

I'd probably go back and try to witness actual divine intervention or failing that, Jesus's ascendance into Heaven. I think it'd clear a lot of things up.

I'd like to be able to see human emotion. As in, you look at people and you can see them radiate what they're feeling, as a color, an aura, whatever.

I think it'd make people watching far more interesting, and if you're a manipulative bastard, being that would be easier too.

Of course we can do this now through time-tested ways, but I'd like the power to cut through other people's surface BS and see what's really at their core.
