As far as I know, that's the only topic that's cause for instant bannification on this forum.

The matter wouldn't interact with you, so I guess the big bang is possible. If you could tell people about it, it'd be awesome and I'd definitely try to observe it. If not, well, it's just really bright and really hot gas.

Hmm, besides the end of everything? The end of my own life. Not because I am eager to experience it of course, but because I am very curious to see how this little tale of mine plays out, and just how far I manage to take it.

No matter how great a story becomes, only once it has reached it's end, can it be considered a true epic.

Wouldn't that be really depressing, though? I like to imagine I'll live forever, that way I have at least one big surprise waiting.

Whether or not it proves to be depressing depends entirely on the events leading up to it. It could be one of the most devastating things I ever witness, or the single most wondrous.

Also, seeing as I am everything, I already expect to live forever. I suppose I should be more specific and say I would like to observe the end of my current organic structure's life.

King DZA's got a good idea:P

I would observe the point I died, to see if knowing how/when I died changed the future. For the evulz.

"What do we say to death?"
"NOT TODAY!"

I'm betting it would turn into one of those twists where the very death you witnessed comes about as a direct result of you becoming obsessed with avoiding your own observed death.

... no one's said abuse for massive profit yet? Since I can't choose 'everything,' let's go with that.

I'd totally get snapshots of the stock markets for the next few years, then go and pickup all the lottery numbers. All of them.

Probably a little bit of memory practice beforehand, so I wouldn't forget. Unless I get to bring along a notepad or something. At least a pen.

Once that's done, blazes if I know. See when humanity dies off, probably. I've got bets with myself on that.

Next week's lottery numbers.  Suddenly the constraints are advantages (noone can possibly work out that I cheated?  Hell yes!).  On the capital gained I could hopefully do something useful.

There's all kinds of things I could work out for curiosity's sake, but if I can't tell anyone that would make it kindof useless to anyone except myself.

EDIT: My reasoning for picking lottery over stock market is that my buying of a lottery ticket almost certainly won't affect the numbers drawn, while playing the stock market and constantly winning would possibly screw things up (since you are part of the market, afterall).  Not sure what this scenario's approach to paradoxes would be...

What part of stealing the blueprints for a time machine isn't abusing for profit?

Which is why you don't get obsessed. You just place a box of cats underneath that piano shaped outline, hey presto, you're alive for at least a few more seconds!

EVERYTHING
Borges wrote a great story about that. El Aleph. It's about a poet who finds a sphere that contains all of spacetime and uses it to write an epic poem.

I can't choose a thing I want to see most, but picking from my list of things I'd like to have seen... The premiere of Stravinsky's Le sacre du printemps would be pretty amazing. Not just for the alleged riot but mostly to have seen the original costumes, and Nijisky's choreography.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I would like to observe myself reading my own opus from some an angle where I could read along.

Myself, just to see how I act. But then I would...probably act different because I'd know I'm watching myself... lame.
