I wouldn't say this is the best forum. Forums are only as bad as its worst member, because that worst member tends to troll and derail good threads and start flame wars and rip the forums into factions.

But it's very impressive considering B12 forum's sheer size. Toady does a very impressive job of forum moderation here; unlike many other forums I visit, there's very few claims of mod bias or heavy handedness or whatever.

B12 is still not mature enough to handle those religious debates, but it's quite a bit better now compared to a few years back. Helps that there's a lot of liberal scum around here too. If there's one thing I don't like about these forums, it's how people tend to have a pissing contest about whose science is stronger, but it's really not so bad and doesn't leak out from threads.

If you're judging a forum by its worst member, you're not really interested in the community at all.

We've had successful religious type threads in the past. Not many, but there's been a few.
