Not very sure if this is good enough, but eh....

----------------------------------
And so you shall change...

The Crymits of the city fell asleep, wherever they were; in their homes or in the streets, they dropped and fell. They dreamt of fortunes and unimaginable truths and lies, power and weakness, the future and the past. And yet while they slept, the god of labour worked on their living shells.

He changed these bodies, these mortal husks; he made them hardier and light in weight and turned them all a azure blue. He then went to work on clearing out all the bodily organs within these mortals, making sure to keep the souls of the creatures alive. The god replaced this flesh with...well it wasn't natural. It was gaseous and a strange blue, but it seemed...intelligent. These would replace the shells of the Crymits; the perfect workers, not needing rest.

As for the souls of these creatures, Omoloth worked hid them for a decade, while their former bodies worked to dig the city out. He worked on them, tampering with them, changing them in entirety. And as the decade passed, the souls reappeared. Not as the Commoners and Emperors of the Crymits, but something else entirely. They were Shrouded Figures, just moving robes, no body. They could speak, laugh and could animate their robes to simulate gestures...But they no longer had bodies. But they gained something else; functional invisibility and intelligence beyond what they could ever dreamed of. Commoner and Emperor alike, these were smarter. These figures appeared throughout the Crymit lands, presenting themselves to the leaders of the cities as Ascendants, envoys of Omoloth and would act as direct conduits to the god, effectively allowing any commoner to speak with their god. In addition, they would happily advise any who would ask...

As for the husks or shells, these strange constructs would become constant bodyguards for these Ascendants, as well as aiding the cities if commanded to by their Ascendent.

Regardless, these servants of the Labour god would become feared or loved, depending on the person. Some wondered why and how these servants appeared, some even correctly linking them to the buried city in the north. Of course, these servants never revealed a fact about their origins. While not replacing the Emperors, they would change the social structure of the species forever.

ouchie.

First, I AM red already, so "turning the bodies crimson red", er... Maybe you meant another shade of red.

Second, commoner's intelligence is pretty low individually, so they heavily rely on the telepathic network. Also they are dog-sized crabs. I have trouble conceiving them as Ascendants. :-\
But they make perfect golems.

Third, Emperors are human-sized and looking. They fit perfectly what I think you wanted to do with this "Ascendants" thing, but their bodies will seem very strange to anyone. A manual-labouring emperor is hardly conceivable. Unless they become bodyguards.

Fourth, when I eventually reach the buried city (no reason for me to stop digging, eh?), I find it empty (or filled with these new guys, your choice), but anyway I find secretly-made archives (orange crystals) telling me what deal the inhabitants made with you (I PM'ed the GM for it, it's not post-action cheating. I had foreseen the golem thing. But not the Ascendant trick. Nice one.).

Considering the reaction of my people, Having all the bodies turned into brainwashed golems is fine, as the mind, with memories and personnality somewhat intact as an Ascendant (At least for the Emperors, if the commoners don't make it to the animated robes state, nobody would care. Being a working mindless golem is not that far from their normal state.), as for Crymits, the body is not important. Turn an emperor into a ghostly thing, cool. Brainwash him, not cool.

Tell me more details on how these Ascendants behave and I will churn out how I'll adapt.
But this blessing is (with the infos I currently have) well-received. ;)

I'll tell ya after I sleep. So tired right now...

But yes, the Commoners are also Ascendants. Why else would it take a decade to enact all this? Of course I'll change that if the Divine cost is far too much. And as for the golems (I'm inclined to call them Shells or Husks myself), well I was pretty much thinking of only Commoners when I thought that up, so yeah I guess Emperors would be restricted to bodyguards. As for brainwashing...I don't think I did. Not sure. I gave the Emperor a deal, he accepted. I'll flesh that out in the morning.

Finally, yeah the golem thing ain't original :P. Was thinking of some spectral/stone shrimp thing, but I decided against it.

Freeformschooler and Criptfeind, whatever you do, take in account that I am diplomatically restricted to the plains and the desert. Sinpwn, I'd appreciate a minor blessing of sorts, I am, after all, giving you more FP than the Calx.

The current goal for the Bangellion Hivemind is improving the individual Devourer's intelligence, making the sum of them all the greater. All actions geared towards that end will be greatly appreciated; alternatively, any physical changes styled after eldritch abominations will be just as welcome.

That is the one sphere where you may participate, as a Devourer is far too dumb to feel fear and the Hivemind has probably passed the stage where it wasn't a stronghold of mental fortitude. It can help you spread the fear though, assuming that you help it; alas poor plain dweller, brutally slaughtered by a deity and then mind raped into servitude by a psionic horror.

Well, you already have... Wait.
*Looks back through the thread.*
Seems I actually didn't include that. Well then.

Draiotch communicates with his Devourers followers, explaining the nature of the world and magic, especially how to further utilize their elemental magic.

I need to talk to wimdit and I have been waiting on the IRC for about a week. As far as I can tell he was hit by a bus. Don't get your hopes up for a quick turn. Or even a turn at all.

Yeah, my internet connection has been too unreliable for IRC for the past week or so. I'm back online now.

Iituem and I are working out some overhauls of the system right now, so yes, there won't be a turn soon. We'll get there, though. The voices of the dead command it.
