The Clax heard a voice, the voice of a god. It boomed out these word to them "Conquer the sea and build tour spire up into the sky there I will make a portal to my realm and allow the chosen to enter. Do this and I will forever smile upon you."

Nikalas spread his touch agian to the Clax letting the power of The Outside spread into their race, however he also journyed about the creatures of the see, giving them some of the power but forever binding them to him and the Clax. He also gifted the Ratha with power and whispred in their minds that the Coral sas a great ally for them.

"Sorry", no. Crymitian commoners are simply unable to disobey an emperor.

Crymits, I will probably abide that, but it may depend on what Wimdit says about the devourers' ability to survive in the western mountain range and wheter the current landmass suffices to sustain another few turns of growth.

Also, Retha, what shall we do? I wouldn't mind all that much opening hand of the swamp, but you've clearly started to delve into the plains, and that is something I cannot afford to allow.

Well, so long as the Devourers stay on the plains, the Retha are going to be highly disinclined to further encroach on Devourer territory. I think.

I can agree to that, have them retreat from 12.08 and I shall forcibly halt devourer expansion at the swamp's borders.

I sent a few scientists/diplomats toward the bangellians. Their goal is to
1) study the blobs
2) attempt communication
3) if 2) succeed, tell them to stay out of the mountains and we'll be fine.

how do your hivemind react, azthor?

I could simply agree, but that wouldn't be thematic at all; a bit of fluff is in order: the hivemind's reaction, given that you'd be communicating through telepathy, as the individual blob is only one step ahead of vegetables in terms of inteligence, would be to force a backlash through the link, terrifying whoever is behind it and "earnestly suggesting" that they stay clear of the plains. Meanwhile, it'd probe the mind of the Emperor(s) directly responsible for contacting it and, attaining a basic grasp on crymitian society, decide to avoid the mountain range while it analyses the species.

While you will no doubt succeed at detecting the hivemind, it will actively hamper any probing attempts directed towards itself. I didn't think it'd be in character for the hivemind to effectively contact and accept the Emperors' terms, so I had to find another way of justifying our OOC agreement; I do want the desert to my west though.

As resident eccentric god of magic and secrets, some suitably surreal areas are desired. Maybe some gigantic hovering crystals with undiscernable runes in parts of the desert. Some floating landmasses around the uninhabited northwestern area, perhaps. In terms of somewhat more mundane geographical features, I notice a large lack of volcanoes.

I live underground, so desert is not for me (sand is hard to dig under).

I am not planning to take over the plains (mostly because I'd rather take under the plains), since mountains give me plentiful space. When all mountainous hexagons will be occupied, I'll probably just dig deeper. So no worry about that.

Since the Hivemind didn't harm anyone, Crymitians will follow the non-aggression rule and will not take the offensive. But studies on Bangellians will pursue.

I am unable to "probe" the hivemind, the crymitian telepathy is non-intrusive. I cannot forcefully extract information.

This matter settled, the Senate move onto new subjects. I spare you the daily problems that all federal nation encounter and skip to the big picture.
-Crymitian scientifics/philosophs are currently very interested in the Theory of Chaos and Order.
-More pragmatic ones prefer to study metallurgy
-And some other try to create a new type of crystal (another one). The one they are trying to create should act as a storage for magical energy, and will release it when properly stimulated. The stimulation and how the crystal release the energy may vary (for exemple it may release a burst of energy, a continuous, controlled stream, flames, lightning, water, air, arcane energy... whatever.). Due to the absorbtion of nearby magic, these crystals are theorized to look black.
Help from gods is heavily wanted on this one (thanks may take almost any form. cathedrals, obedience to some commandments...).

EDIT: I just realised, Mazza'kaza was in direct contact with the Zjelldursin "Podavariss" ("greedyhide", Zjelldursin is a species' name, greedyhide is this particular one's name), and thus should have heard the "whispers from the deep". Even if he don't want to tell anyone, he may write it down. Oh, and at least some emperors spend some free time philosophing on the Whispers heard earlier.

Truly they don't expect a god to do everything? Requesting help for something like this? In my day mortals only asked for aid in dire situations...They can work this out themselves.

Deciding not to aid the Senate in this task, Omoloth wandered the cities of the Cryimits, disguised as a mere commoner. He had done this a many times before in this world and others. He wandered at the cultures and customs of the species, exploring the tunnels and buildings of the Crymits. An interesting species, Omoloth thought, and he was amused by all the devotion to him by several of the commoners. If only they knew their god was just behind them.

After several years of this wandering, Omoloth thought of a wondrous idea.

He traveled to the northern most city and caused earthquakes and ruptures in the surrounding area, closing off every way out of the city, unless of course a dedicated crymit tried to dig out a tunnel. Then Omoloth waited. A day. Three. A week. A month.

By now, the the food stores where getting low, and while the Crymits had began digging out tunnels, progress was slow. Of course, the people were afraid and anxious now, Emperors included. The leader of this particular city was of course, most fearful. Omoloth crept into his dreams one day and offered him a way of escape: accept the blessing of the Dura and you and your people will be free. Omoloth waited for a reply.

(if you would kaian, reply)

blessing of the Dura? what's that?

I asked for help just because Crymits got used to do it, without fully expecting an answer, but they think it's worth asking. No answer: too bad, just do it yourself. Answer: jackpot! (after all, it's hard to tell what's really worthy for a god.)

Good point, but the difference to Omoleth is that they didn't request aid from him specifically the other times. He's crazy like that. As for Dura, that's the point. Lets just say they won't be Crymits if they accept.

I cannot assure you of which the plains will be tunnelable by the time you are done covering the mountains, the substract being steadily eaten and what not, but I will make sure to stay clear of the later.

The largest communication crystals in the empire of the Crymits empire began to hum violently and arc magic without any warning, startling several nearby. A shifting, ancient voice echoed forth.

"Is this thing work- Ah, there we go. Ahem.
I have heard word of your work to create a crystal to hold magic, as I have heard your summons for a soul storm to aid you. I present you a compromise. Prove to me you truly grasp the fundamentals of how this would be created, and I shall provide the details. Good? Good!
Oh, to the city isolated by quakes, I am eager to see how you proceed.
"

As quickly as it started, the broadcast stopped.

A strange being appeared among the Crymits. It looked like an emeperor but was much taller than any Crymit alive and was swathed in some sort of red robe. Its face was two glowing oints of red and a glowing red mouth seemlingly stretched into a sneer. The being glidied up the steps and through the doors of the Senate. It glidied up to the middle and made its annoucment. I am Niklas, God of fear and hope. I have come bearing gifts. You need crystals that can store magic, I have such  things. A pure black crystal appeared in his hands, it radited fear and terror to the Senators. However I need something in return. Build agreat Cathedral to my on your highest mountain. This cahtedral shall be just below the clouds. Do this and the crystals shall be yours. Don't and I shall never make this offer agian. The figure began to fade away. I am waiting
