You kidding? I deliberately make most of my super soldiers berserk. Weaponize, rinse, repeat. Let the animals and maybe the merchants out though, unless you want to hurt your economy.
I already let the Dwarves out. But I'm planning to go to war with the Elves when they arrive though...I have this plan of trapping them in the depot via levers, then activating a machine that will slowly drown them in water from the local river...I'll probably do the same with those meddling Humans too. This way I don't have to construct a military, as my population is currently 11(I got 2 migrants each from 2 waves)and I need more slaves helping hands to do some important stone hauling.

You can drown caravan after caravan with no effect. Kill their diplomat after insulting him, THAT'LL piss them off.

Works for humans, too, even if it's not your fault. I had one spawn minus a leg and an eye, and he went insane on his way out. Then the guard dog chewed him apart. In the first year of my fort.
Human sieges are nasty.

Don't diplomats not show up currently? I've heard there is a fix to add the position, but it doesn't seem to work on my current embarks...

You do realise you probably won't see the elves until they're on top of your Dorfs? It's laughable, until they turn your civilians into pine needle pin cushions.

In 40d I once had an elven ambush decloak in the middle of my dining hall.

Wrong goddamn dining hall. Urist McLegendary Miner/Mayor was hungry, and you do not piss off a quadruple legendary dwarf when he's hungry. One steel pickaxe and one martial trance later, and I was picking up elf chunks for a month afterwards.

I learned two lessons from this.

1. Guard dogs chained at the entrances are vital.
2. Position them somewhere a little inside your properly-designed gatehouse, with a cage full of 40 foaming war-dogs on hand, and you can engage the treehuggers at close range, rather then at the range they desire. Expert medieval longbowmen could put an arrow through an arrow loop in about six tries at optimum range. Elves consider that delightfully cute.

I like the fact we are seriously discussing how to drop dwarfs off towers using  kittens as cushions.

He might be a tree logger though.

There's only one way to prove it.

Don't you dare touch the magma, unholy depth-dweller. The only right way to live is on the surface surrounded by nature!

Indeed I would. Whilst we're at it, would you like to browse my selection of caged [EXOTIC] animals, and refrain from selling me anything made of wood?

We have many Fluffy Wamblers. Just don't uncage them in your dining hall.

Meh. Never uncage FB's in your hall.

On that note, trial by magma? No.

Trial by magma AND kittens. Horrible acid spitting, candy-clawed kittens.
