The pump stack is now 100% operational, running from -26 to +5 with no leaks, power loss, or notable FPS drag.  FPS went from 90 to 82 while running the pumps, temperature is most certainly on.  But this curiosity happened as it was running, there's a solid wall of magma along the south side of the tower, while the north is in freefall.  It appears by some perversion of physics that I've managed to make magma float extremely accurately.  This will warrant further research later, but for now water pumps need to be constructed so that obsidian casting may begin!

I believe you may have just made the first recorded instance of a magma spire.

I may have to embark upon another adventure to attempt to make a proper spire.  Due to the way magma pressurizes (or rather, doesn't) it may be possible to create an actual spire by pointing four pumps inwards with some distance between them.

In any case, now that I've got a functioning pump stack, I'm preparing to intake water and set up a casting mold.  Screenshots in a moment of the footprint I intend to use.

but would an artifact bar or soap burn forever? what about normal soap? does it burn? does molten soap burn?

I don't think there are many artifact soaps though...

does molten soap burn?

Also, If you make one of the towers contain a massive pool, will fish spawn in it?

How long do you have to wait, generally? I end up waiting along time for the vermin to show... Is it a random thing? only on natural tiles maybe?

Edit: and whats your mold making method? I've never done this, but what if you filled a space with water, then dropped a big bit of lava on it from a bridge. so it would be:

Will Imps spawn on the maps edge if its is 6/7-7/7 magma? Only one way to find out.
