Kegbolts undead badgers hate you.
« on: December 31, 2011, 02:22:28 am »

I guess this is it then? Kivish said it was, but im not sure. the area that was described to me wasnt like this. this area is supposed to be an idealic hillside where the only animals are cavies, various apes, and the occasional elephant. instead we find ourselves out here. I can see it from the back of the wagon, Ill tell you what I see journal, I see dead trees. I see dead grass. I see dead animals. that's not good, I mean look at this place!

we've started unloading the wagon and putting it in piles. Meng, the miner we brought with us started digging some temporary chambers, for now we need to get stone up out of the ground for some workshops. once weve got a good set of stone doors or a hatch or something, we can get down to serious work. I sent endok out to cut a good swatch of trees. we will need the wood for a wall and also to get use through the rest of winter.

Ah! before I forget journal, Ive gotta record who is here and waht we brought. "proper bookkeeping," as my dad always say, "saves lives!" well im not much of a bookkeeper but I can do a fair job. lets see now, first off weve got Meng Solozonul. he was an apprentice metalsmith back home for Tun Seber, after he completed his studies he became an expidition miner. next we have our woodworker Endok Borlondodok. He doesnt seem to like me much. weve also got a brewer named Id Ilgeshud, he makes the finest lager Ive ever had. Kivish is a mechanic. I never met him before now, but he strikes me he seems pretty straight foreward and orderly. no wonder though, he worships egul, goddess of order. I heard he is good with an axe too. Asob and Ablel are the animal specialist and chef respectively, and I am the good doctor. every expedition needs a doctor yes? my name, is Zameg Homagedoors.

Our people, the dwarves of Tun Sebir, the door of hide. we aren't doing well. we have no leaders. I mean, the dwarves themselves are doing fine, but without a leader... that brings me to the purpose of this expedition. we have been sent to build a home fit for a king, whenever he may emerge from the plebian masses. just a sec journal, something is happening.

oh, by anan, coming here was a mistake. a horrible mistake. I should have badgered Kivish to keep the wagon moving. now kivish wont be moving the wagon anywhere. I dont know what we are going to do, the dogs are all dead. so are four of our number. endok, kivish, Id, and Meng are dead. I was counting out barrels of booze when I heard a commotion from the north. Endok broke through the tree line being chased by the biggest badger Id ever seen. at first I couldn't seem to put my finger on what was wrong with it. then I realized it, the thing had no skin! no flesh, just bones! to say it had no skin is false though, it had bits of dried hide clinging to the bleached stack of its ribcage. Endok ran towards us, that thing on his heels, the dogs broke away from the wagon and went at it, jut as three more monsters came crashing through the trees. one of them had flesh on it and the stink nearly knocked me from my feet. I must admit I panicked and fled I could hear one of them crashing around on my back trail as I ran. I made a loop around the north side of the camp, ran up the hill. it was the zombie. it was slow enough that I managed to lose it on the other side of a hill east of us and sneak back. when I arrived the only ones left alive were Asob and Ablel. Ablel had a cat and she was clutching at the thing like it might fly away. Asob was shaking quite badly so I gave him a hug and told him to get into the tunnel we had dug so far. I grabbed the axe off of Endoks corpse and Ablel retrieved Mengs pick. gotta get this wood cut and up. just a small palisade for now, Asob said he can help with the wall, but he is looking pretty shaky again.

Ive had myself a good cry, I feel better, and now its back to work. Ablel is digging, and Asob is making a pair of stone doors. well, the cats are fine. im gonna have to confine them before they lure something back here. im pretty sure I saw a skeletal cat today. a big one.

gods, sleeping on the ground is rough. I was gonna order Endok to make a few beds, and then everything came back to me. Ablel has been taking it pretty hard too. Ive made the beds myself, so that should ease things a bit, I put them all in the same room so if those undead monsters get in here, we will at least die together... speaking of dying, the horses we brought with us came back today. they looked pretty hungry so Ablel butchered them. nothing for them to eat in this place anyways. heh, I bet it was pretty disappointing for them journal. "damn! finally got back to these damn dwarves! maybe we can finally eat, im starving. hey, whats he doing with that cleaver?" *CHOP* ha ha ha! aw... now im sad again...

I saw a blue jay and some butterflies today. not dead either. live, and not live as in undead. really live. vital. maybe there is hope for this place?

*long story short, I departed on a standard succession style map. evil area, good minerals, a bit of aquifer, plenty of opportunity for fun. I just did not expect !!FUN!! so quickly.
so, I wanted to start a succession game. but I wasn't sure how. so I decided to just start playing, and writing about it as I went along. this is also an opportunity to get some writing practice in, I like doing it, but im not sure how good it is. Ill have screen shots, as soon as I figure out how it works. I will still do dorfings, if people want to be dorfed. If people really want a shot at running it, I do know how the DFFD works and im not against changing this into a succession game. Ill keep doing this until the fort falls or I lose interest.

[edit] Ill reclaim if I really have too XD things are starting to look grim, lets just say that right now...

Asob vanished a few days ago...

I can hear noises outside. thumping, clacking noises. growls. Ablel and I have barred the doors. I dont want to die here. Ablel tried to cheer me up, but his sense of humor is fairly macabre. he told me he named one of the huge skeletal badgers Duradoshosh, or "Beardhermit" in the crude tongue.

I saw something aweful today journal. Ablel and I were sitting in the room with the craftworks in it when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I thought it would be Asob, but the smile was slapped away from my face when I saw who it really was. poor meng. poor poor meng. He had been uttery destroyed by the badgers. in other news, we struck gold pretty close to the surface today. its a pretty hollow find though. noise at the doors. well, Ablel is ready for whatever comes, and I guess youve gotta pay the piper when he comes. Anan guide me.

MIGRANTS! blessed Anan thank you! ill have to get their names later. with their help, I managed to find time to memorialize the dead. with that though... well, one of the migrants found Asob. another of them found his leg. poor Asob. this is grave tidings indeed. Asob was my best freind. now all I have is this undying hillside and this hole in the ground.

THE BADGERS ARE BACK!

the mason who came with the migrants ran in screaming, Ablel and I got to the doors just in time to seal the bastards outside. no losses. not this time, but I can hear them out there. growling. after it died down the new mason/broker Asthel and I were constructing more walls, ever watchful for the local wilddead, as I rounded the corner I had just built to go back inside, I saw it. this horrible little man like creature! the thing jumped on me, it probably thought Id make an easy meal, but filled with the rage from the recent loss of my freind, I hacked the feet from its legs with my copper axe and threw it to the ground where it turned to dust! more of them were coming, so I rushed inside, turning Ablel about and pushing him down the stairs. this spot was a horrible idea to put our quarters...

AGAIN WITH THE BADGERS! normal sized ones this time, but still. good Anan, they made a beelin straight for the door, I only just made it again. Im not living in fear of these little monsters any longer! im gonna get some traps made up, Ill figure out what to do with the the corpses. I was down by the river today. a bit of a risk on my part, but I havent been feeling up to anything really lately. I saw some of those huge badgers on the other side of the river, I ran at first. then I saw that they couldent cross. I tuanted them, it was fun for a little bit, then the water suddenly froze. I forgot it was autumn... I havent run like that since I was a beardling.

today was a good day! the merchants arrived shortly after more migrants. their werent many of them, but they were enough. the giant beasts attacked on of the guards but he fought them off! seven huge skeletal badgers! he kept ducking and dodging and weaving about! striking at them when opportunities showed themselves. eventually though he started to tire, and the undead are tireless. it looked like he would soon take a hit, but he got a glint in his eye, gave a primal roar, and smote each badger a deadly blow in rapid succession! hail the merchant guards! we got a single barrel of booze, plenty of turtles, and few smaller comfort items. winter is coming, and I dont intend to spend much of it topside. wall construction will continue, weve got a few traps set up to help with security, and Ive ordered more dogs brought from the liaison.

*It was a real adrenaline rush whenever the badgers or the macaques showed up because they moved so fast. they would come in on the edge of my vision just as the dwarves were finishing up what they were doing outside and they would go straight for the door. I figured out this was because my tanners workshop was made of wood and they were trying to path to it. luckily the dwarves made it back inside each time, and in one case just barely.

I asked the immigrants about how they got here instead of where we were told we were going, they just gave me a look and walked off. no one seems to have been fed the same story as I was. anyways, seeing as how this seems to be where we will be for awhile, we all got together and decided to call our new home Kegbolt. we had to forgo all the usual rituals of striking the earth, but at times like this, it seems that tradition must give way to need. Ablel told me he found rubies while digging new bed chambers today. this is very good news. along with the gold we have, we may be able to craft some very alluring goods. as I write this, Im getting more reports of pockets of rubies.

Its mid-winter now and Ive started on having the walls expanded. Ive also thought it would be a good idea to put a roof over the new courtyard, winters winds are very cold up here on the top of this hill.spring has sprung and I look to others to see if they would like to take over running this place, but I dont see any volunteers.

what I do see are wolves,

and like anything else around here, they appear to be missing quite alot of their bodies. they approached the doors but turned away at the last moment.there was a lot of confusion today as a load of migrants came in, they had wandered right into the midst of a small group of skeletal rodents. needless to say they freaked out and scattered. the only loss of life was a single puppy. sad, ah well. this lot appears to have brought A LOT of grazing animals. they will be promptly butchered.

damn journal, another close call today. no one was watching and I went out to work on the wall. unfortunately, the badgers were about. I again went on a marathon run about the hills. somehow I managed to lose it when I was making the mad dash back up the side of the hill.

THE IDIOTS! THE FOOLS! several of this gods damned morons insist on going down to the river to get drinks! we have many barrels of good drink here, along with plenty of water in nearby ponds. now there are about half a dozen of them running screaming through the hills as the undead badgers and their man like counterparts. a few of the huge badgers fell into the traps we had set up and were instantly powdered. one of the immigrants created a masterpiece today, an artifact really. it didnt strike me as particularly interesting, but the others thought it was amazing. he called it "Razot Thabost, The Raptor of Flares." all it really is a cage made of two types of wood. two trees I risked my life to cut down for those.

Elves... I hate elves. Anan if we dont need them though. they might have some booze on them. also wood and a few other things we need. at about the same time I got a report of badger men, something different about these ones though. when I looked for myself, I saw that these ones werent undead. they were alive, vital! maybe there is hope for Kegbolts. haha! they actually ran from the dwarves going to get water! thats a good change. from the elves traded to us several casks of longland beer and strawberry wine. we also got ahold of a huge cat. a "couger" they called it. all I know is that we can use it for bait to get the skeletons into our traps, and not worry so much about the animal. the elves have left, and along with them many of our stone trinkets. apart from that, and the dwarves being idiots, nothing much happened. except, well I had the miners punch a hole one of the sodden walls. there was water on the other side. now you'd think this would be a stupid idea, but it wasn't, I swear. the water drained into a cistern I had them dig out, now when and if it rains, the water will flow into a safe pit for us to drink from when the others insist on water. speaking of rain, its started raining for the first time since I came here.

I noticed today that some of the migrants brought beardlings. this is no place for children... speaking of migrants, some were spotted on the far northeastern area of the territory. fools are about as far from us in this area as you can get. again, the migrants bring children. youd think the merchants would have told them what it would be like out here.

humans came. I guess that means summer is here. apart from the slight rise in tempurature, that probably the only way we are going to be able to tell what time of year it is. Ive never seen humans before, spent most of my time inside in the mountainhomes. we haven't exactly made any new crafts since the elves were here, so ive decided to trade away some of our gems. one of the idiots mentioned seeing live badgers across the river today. why they are still going down to the river, ill never guess. Ablel came to me saying we need more beds. ill admit, the place is getting a bit crowded. the humans didnt have much of interest, but we got a few things we could use. an anvil among them. when the trading was done, one of the human guards smashed the fragile skeletons of some ground hogs, the strange thing is that among their number, was a living groundhog. very odd.

I heard screaming tonight. it woke me up, I thought that it was badgers again, or wolves. but instead it was a child waking from a dream. he immediately ran off to claim the workshop where we had been making stone pots. he ran off and claimed a lump of bauxite, (frankly journal, im impressed he could even lift the thing.) several bones, and a strip of leather. while this was going on, im sad to say many of our number had gone outside to go pick up Asobs things, 3 of them were attacked and killed by badgers.a child! a child of only 6 years old has made a door out of solid bone! its very simple, but I for one am impressed. the door is beautiful. he calls is gimedtul.

not too much has happened since my last entry. fall came and went, we lost several more of our number, a dwarf lies injured in his bed. the merchants from home came and restocked everything we needed. they lost one of their guards to badgers. now, winter is almost over, and I sit here at one of the tables in the meeting room wondering if someone will take this burden from my shoulders. probably not. either way though, we may last another year. ive traded away most of our gemstones. also ive currently got the miners working on carving out rooms for masons and storage for stone. ill have to get more areas for craftsman done as well. on an unrelated note, Ablel has started calling me "salt" becuase im so bitter all the time he says. I dont know about that, what I do know is that he seems to be telling some fairly tall tales when he is deep into his cups.

Another artifact, this ones a little more interesting. It is a crown made from schist. thats it really, but it is studded with wood and hematite. one of the woodworkers approached me today, the same one who made the artifact cage, asking that he be made a lumberjack. told me his name was Hugo. its nice to know someone around here is willing to give me their name. ive got paperwork to do after all.

we spent the winter watching the simple spiked ball traps turn the skeletons into piles of bone. at some point there was a lull in the "action" when suddenly there was a spurt of blood. when those present went to see what it was, they found two dead goblins. I guess news of our "wealth" has spread a bit. this is bad. we only have a small militia.

*so, its the end of the second year and Kegbolts is still alive and kicking. I honestly had lost all hope after 5 of the original 7 were killed. anyway, stocks of booze are starting to get low, but food is definitely not going down anytime soon. this fort is much less organized than I like it, but ive finally got a proper masons area and crafts area carved out. the walls are complete (at least for now) the stone stockpile is done, a dining hall will soon be built and now im trying to think of something interesting to build. overall, it was a rather uneventful year, except for the death toll, around 3 or 4 this year, and the creation of 3 artifacts. If anybody else wants a go, now would be the time to speak up. if not, Ill do another year tomorrow. FPS (at least for me) is very good. im getting about 90-100 FPS at the moment.

[edit] btw, happy new year everyone!

Another year has come. I plan on getting this fort in some kind of order. more bedchambers and maybe a proper militia to compliment the bone mill. speaking of the bone mill, I just had the dubious pleasure of watching an entire group of about eight or nine skeletal badgers walk single file into it. honestly I found the spectacle hilarious.

*sigh* hard day journal, we got more migrants, but they arrived on the opposite side of the river, because of the nature of this area, we haven't been able to build a bridge over it. I sent one of the miners out on a mission to get them across through a narrow tunnel under the river. before he could get there though, the meat grinder showed up and killed five of the migrants. when the tunnel was finally finished most of them escaped to this side, while some stayed to try and fight off the wolves, they did well until the giant badgers arrived. three more dwarves died on that side. the militia was sent out to escort the rest, but due to our races almost suicidal obsession with the property of the dead, nine more of us were slain. the elven merchants showed up, I had the goods outside the fort forbidden, and raised the emergency wall. this was a disaster...

especially since we lost Hugo in the attacks. not even on that side of the river either. he put on his bronze plate and helmet, but neglected to bring his axe, he barreled down the slopes of the hill bellowing Anan's name. he managed to crush several wolves and a couple of badgers before they overwhelmed him and his squad... sad day. sad day. especially since out finest warrior has lost the ability to stand. Ill get around to treating him eventually.one of our number was elected mayor today and I was relieved from my position as expedition leader. his first act as mayor was to mandate the creation of mail shirts. a good idea, we could really use some armor.

Lots of ghosts out in the hills. we need to start making headstones for the dead. I sent the miners to dig a secondary entrance, so any more migrant who come in on the other side of the river will have a quick way into the fort, in doing so we hit the aquifer and flooded the tunnel we were going to use for that purpose, the attempt the miners made to bypass it led them into a cavern. ive heard stories of what can be found in the caverns, we will have to be careful, for now ive ordered to opening to be sealed up for now.

of all the places to find precious metal. the gold we had found were just small pockets, but today the miners found a rather large vein of platinum while expanding the metal works. this is a good find, we can afford to get more supplies from the caravans. so far though, weve managed to get by on the gem trade.

the humans came back. frankly im surprised, they seemed a bit perturbed by the local wilddeath last time. I hope they brought lots of food and booze. we've got enough, but it never hurts to have more! when I went up to meet them I noticed all the children throwing wild parties centered on the  cougars we got from the elves.

I should tell them to stop before the cougar decides to eat them, thats the kind of thing that keeps beardlings in line.the parties they keep throwing seem to be getting the goblins attention, another snatcher was spotted, but he was promptly smashed upside the head by the bone grinder.

I dont know why the humans take the clothing and armor we make, they are too big! unless they are giving these things to their children? certainly a small human would fit into the clothes we make very well. but what about the armor? autumn has come to kegbolts, but it might as well be winter. weve started memorializing the dead, a simple stone will have to do for our legendary dwarves until I can get a proper burial hall built.

while looking for volunteers for the militia today I noticed one of the other doctors was quite skilled with a sword. her name is Highmax, I called her in to my office (the dining room) and we discussed the possibility of having her join the military. she said she would, but it would get in the way of her other jobs. I mentioned that her other jobs wouldn't matter when the badgers were bashing down out walls to get at us. again and again, the bone mill has proven its worth. as long as we have no reason to go outside, these abominations just walk into it. it does get a bit boring though.

today one of the others was eating when suddenly she stood up, sprayed her drink all over Ablel, and ran off to claim a workshop, all while still clutching her baby. I hope she makes something worth while, also I got the injured sword dwarf back on his feet today, just had to get him a crutch. im such a great doctor.
the dwarf who was acting strangely finished her project and came up with a bone bracelet. certainly breaking new ground there I guess. the mayor has also prohibited the export of mail shirts. I dont know why that would be a problem, we need each one we can get.

speaking of arms and armor, ive ordered our small militia to begin training. this will be good for them, as with goblins about and the undead abominations, we can use tempered well disciplined soldiers. the only ones not practicing the art of war are the marksdwarves, when I asked them why, they said they didnt have any targets! why in my fathers day, they just shot at bricks on the keeps walls! ah well, ill have some real targets made up.

ah! a caravan from the mountainhomes! and there are more merchants this year. its a good thing too, because we are running pretty low on booze and no one seems to want to make it. one thing I noticed though, is that the axes the merchant guards have seem to be very effective against the badgers. Ill have to start having the militia use similar weapons. also as much as it hurts me to have to rely so much on the mountainhomes for protection, ive had to buy new armor from the merchants. thats alright though, it will lessen the strain on us. getting wood for coal is dangerous, and as such, Ill order some coal from the liaison. we also got more dogs and quite a lot more booze. good, we are secure in our stocks once again. we've begun putting up fortifications on the roof, but the work is slow, as the mason try to build the scaffolding for the job, they get startled by the badgers that walk by. really, its a huge pain.

bah! highway robbery! its a scam! it appears that the merchants will not bring coal of any kind to any fortress or settlement. they have absolutely no problem bringing ores of gold, platinum, or any number of valuable gemstones, but they will not bring us bituminous coal or lignite! I guess we will have to make due with ordering charcoal and coke. I also put in several barrels of lye. as a doctor I find that having a few barrels on hand is good for when you need soap, or when you need to dispose of a body.

snow! I know its not a big event journal, but it hasn't snowed out here since we arrived, and its only rained twice in this whole four year period. heh, I forgot to mention, winter has come and is almost halfway done. it will be 4 years since I came here with all my friends. four years since all except Ablel were killed. well, to be honest I didn't really know any of them except Asob. Asob was a good dwarf though, if a bit shaky at times.

lately Id noticed the miners loafing about when they had jobs to do. Ive had these plans for an exploratory shaft dug on the slate for quite awhile. when I asked about it, they said they couldn't get to the work site because I had ordered the shaft blocked up! that was preposterous, so I checked and indeed, I had had the shaft sealed up. in my haste to block off the caverns we had found, I had ordered the wrong staircase sealed. bah, I feel like a fool journal. after I had the seals torn out and moved to the right place, digging recommenced and we immediately dug into another cavern! another one! as we were walling up this section of cavern, I saw something nasty. it was some kind of long armed humanoid creature. *picture missing, it was a reacher* just like everything in the wilderness topside though, it was just as dead. I GAH! ITS IN THE FORT!

thank Anan for Highmax, when the thing showed it ugly skull in the mine shaft, Highmax was on the spot and ready, she distracted the monster while the citizenry pummeled the thing to death. they must be as tired of the monsters as I am. in the confusion a huge skeletal rat tried to get by, but highmax was on the case, hacking and smashing with her iron short sword.

hurrah! today the miners struck a thrid cavern, what did they find inside journal?Ill tell you!
]
two whole veins of it too! soon after, just under the cavern layer we hit just what we needed!

a long day. winter is just about done, the magma works are well under way, I just need to get some good mechanisms made up and a few other things to keep the magma under control. I just hope we can get them quickly. the militia is training well, the only trouble is getting the bolts for the marksdwarves to practice with. when the magma works is done, the smiths can REALLY start churning out the metal, but for now I need a few more things. one of the others got so excited about it all that he ran off and claimed one of the forges, I hope he makes something good. meanwhile I was startled by what looked like a huge plump helmet in the second cavern layer. what was I doing there? cutting wood. there is good, easier to get wood. the militia practices, highmax is probably our best fighter, he is quite adept with his blade. Im hoping some of his skill will rub off on the other dwarves. I remember Hugo was quite good too, a shame really.

not exactly what I was expecting, but still its very nice. the fey dwarf created something useful! it is called "Ostukthad Romekbobet" or "sneakcrowded, the long trifles." and iron crossbow.

whats odd is that on the item are two pictures of itself. now what the heck is that about? either way, he is now considered a legendary weaponsmith, so ive ordered him to start crafting weapons for the fort.

tragedy! one of those walking plump helmet things came up from the caverns through the door someone left open and clubbed a child to death! the cowardly thing ran but the earthen dimensions (the militia) caught and tortured it.

GOBLINS! goblin archers to be exact, and a few hammer men, several of them came at the fort only to fall to the bone mill. alot of them were bashed about and knocked unconscious, the only losses (I think are two marksdwarves and a few animals. I dont know where he got it, but one the commander of the earthen dimensions appears to have gain a -<<steel battleaxe>>-. no idea where the thing came from, we didn't make it, and we certainly didnt buy it... well, we did manage to repel that group of greenskins, but ive ordered the retracting wall to be extended. this should keep them out. winter is over, spring has sprung, and things are about to get serious.I guess we will have to see what next year brings us.

*woo, this year started ROUGH. got a ton of migrants in, but they were trapped on the wrong side of the river. the wolves and badgers showed up pretty quick and made mincemeat out of them. managed to save a bunch of them, but now Ive got clothing and corpses littering the countryside. the worst part of it was when Hugo got killed. he went out with his armor but left behind his axe, got completely overwhelmed and mauled. jayzuz. that was bad. I finally got around to looking for magma, found it, and found two candy spires, very nice. im not touching that stuff yet though. started putting in more fortifications on the battlements, got the memorial hall done, (forgot to take pics, will do it next time) and saw the first goblin ambush. I still have no idea where the steel axe came from, but im pretty sure it saved its owners life, and helped him to put down all the unconscious goblins. Highmax started out as a novice sword dwarf, but somehow managed to get up to adept with his sword very very fast. currently he is the strongest of the fighting dwarves. was fun to watch him cut apart the plump helmet man one little piece at a time. just gotta get better armor going.

and so ends the 4th year (4th year? 4th year) Highmax28, are you still interested? Ive got an intro in mind if you want to take the reigns for a bit, and ill upload the save as soon as you, or someone else is ready.

I'm still in, and if you can tell me how to upload stuff, I'll get it possibly by tomorrow or the day after (its 2AM, and I've been working on scrubbedcreams end only to have it crash on me looknig on a gem :'( oh well...) And also noting the speed going up to novice to adpet so quickly, I'm assuming it was about half a year you've had her (meanwhile I'm a guy, LOL), so if we say your training since then, it should be about compitent or whatever is above that, but given the live training shes gotten, its well earned. And you'd probably learn to use a sword fast if you were in constant fights, right? ;D

Also If your waiting for the words "I'm ready", there you go :P

another year gone by. a few days into spring, Highmax approached me in the new dining hall (it still need to be engraved) and put his hand on my shoulder. I invited her to sit down and we started talking. I mentioned that I had been at this for four years and she said she could take the reigns for another year or so. it would be great to get a vacation. I said that it sounded like a fine plan. we discussed it a bit more and decided that she would take over, and when she was done, if no one else wanted the responsibility, I would reattain control of the fort. its a plan I like, and so begins the reign of Highmax28, adept swordsdwarf.

welp, here is the file highmax. currently, organization is rough at best. the defenses are currently active. (to deactivate them, pull the lever on the top floor of the fort, its the only lever in the whole place.) be careful though, as I dont know how many green skins may be in hiding out there. Im sure your right about your dwarf. mostly I draft any dwarf with military skills as the enter the area in the migrant waves, which in this case strikes me as a great idea. the militia dies FAST when I use them. oh, and take your time,  I only go through my updates so fast because I have literally nothing better to do.

to upload the file when you are done, make an account at the site I used to upload it (if you don't have one already) and upload it from there and post the address.

{succession rules}
the "succession" part of this fort is gonna be a very simple "play till you don't want to anymore" play a minimum of a year, if someone else wants to have a go, then you cut it off at the end of the year, if no one else want to do it, you can keep going for another year, or give it back to me. If you have a mega project in mind, then you can take the time required to finish it, within reason of course.
