New years eve, 2011. Plans for tonight?
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:31:14 am »

So, how are you planning to celebrate the new year?
Partying?  Noisemaking?  Drinking until you pass out and wake up beside an elf?
Come on in here and share.

I'll be working till 11,  but I think it'll probably go mostly unmarked when I get home,  aside from a cup of eggnog and watching that shiny ball drop on tv.
...I still don't understand the purpose or symbolism of that thing,  but its still fun to watch.

Well I am being held at my parents place, some what against my will, and I don't know anybody within 500km. My parents are going to some old peoples party, leaving me at home, alone, with nobody to talk to and nothing to do. Also, there is nothing to cook, and they are taking the last of the booze.

Sorry, got off on the wrong foot here, didn't we?

Nothing.  Seriously, I'm not doing a danged thing.

Well, okay.  Final moving out efforts on my old place and watching Tintin with my mom, but my main plans will probably involve Plato's Republic and trying not to think about being single.

My head already feels like I drunk too much. Most likely just going to down a bottle of what I hope to be painkillers and pass out.

Well I have heard it is a good movie, so that should be fun at least.

Rice man, trust me, make yourself a big old bowl of plain white rice, eat it down, then go to bed.

Because rice is the easiest thing to throw up, it won't leave you dry gagging into the toilet tomorrow. Good stuff.

I've celebrated pretty much every spectrum of the New Year. Personally, getting drunk in rather peaceful conditions is my favorite way to celebrate. I've already had to deal with serving food and drinks a few times before during New Year's, and it sucked; so anyone that's working where I'm spending my celebration with my siblings, I'll make sure to wish a happy new year while at it. I can imagine they can use the pick-me-up. I'll probably end the night with a strong-nog (3 parts undiluted eggnog, 1 part rum).

Originally, my brother invited me to join him and his daughters at his place, but being short on funds, and needing the gas in my car for work the following week, I can't take the risk. Plus, it would only be for the night.

I wonder if anyone not doing much would be livestreaming a movie or something. That wouldn't be a bad idea.

I could try streaming the next segment of Metal Gear Otacon, starting at midnight my time.  I promise that it will become progressively more... interesting... as the night rolls on.

Depending on how late the stream lasts for, I'll probably be coming in rather late then.

As much as I would love to join you, my parents have this crappy little over priced limited bandwidth, that they have managed to use up when they realised that the ABC website streams stuff on demand, so now Dad can watch the news 24 hours a day, until we hit the limit and things slow down to dial up speed. Sooo, no streaming for me!

Yea, even cut off from the internet. Happy fucking new years!

I was going to hang out with a friend, a tradition we've had for several years now. But he decided to go to a party, so I'll be sitting at home, sipping on soda and playing some games.

Reminds me of Azkanan's Saturday Film Night, which would be entirely appropriate. But that's been dead for a while, and I haven't seen much of him recently.

I would watch this. :)

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Going out with some friends, gonna see where that takes me.

But I will most definitely be continuing my now one year old tradition of breaking out a big ol' cigar, a glass of rum and some sweet sweet irish chocolate that I get for christmas every year.

Oh and Max, that's no way to spend the evening, go out for a walk or something, micelus says there will be fireworks, go watch those :D
