Off the top of my head:
World: Etlia
Continents: Kaljian, Tanjian
Civs on Kaljian:
The Duchies of Beshan - A successor state to the Kingdom of Beshtria, the 12 duchies of Kyrwen (Beshtria, Basuran, Maltria, Kyrwen, Istria, Kalizan, Kelorain, Harwen, Newlan, Oronn and two others I can't think of at the moment) dominate the southern third of the continent of Kaljian. Politically, the three Central Duchies of Beshtria, Basuran and Maltria are the core of the old Beshtrian kingdom which was forced by the outer duchies into a "first among equals" sort of arrangement after a civil war. A loose confederation of frontier duchies, led by the coastal Kyrwen (and its naval power) form the counterbalance to the Central Duchies' power. To the south, the vast province of Newlan encompasses an expanse of sparsely populated moors, hills and taiga. Beyond that to the southeast lies the mountainous peninsula of Oronn, inhabited by the tribal bird-men for whom the duchy is named.
Among the coastal mountains to the west live the derros of Stanheim, and to the southwest, the dark and snowy forests of the Nighwood. There the elan make their uneasy home (yes, they're dwarves and elves, respectively...but with some differences). Both races previously lived in relative peace among the civilized lands of the Beshtrian Kingdom. But when the Outer Duchies rebelled and brought about the civil war, many of them found employment as mercenaries in the employ of the old King. When the King was finally forced from his throne, there was no reward for the many human conscripts and serfs who had fought (on both sides). But the nonhuman mercenaries had been well-acquitted, both from pay and from looting. This led to wave of racial tension and within a few years of the end of the civil war, to outright internecine warfare and ethnic cleansing. The derros fled the Duchies, rejoining their ancestral kin in Stanheim. The elan, long aboriginal inhabitants of the warmer plains and steppes, were driven into the taiga of the Nighwood. Many died in those first few years. The rest adapted to their new home and took up arms with a vengeance to keep humans out. An uneasy truce remains to this day.
A recent war with Azarya (see below) led the Council of Dukes to appoint (after some political manuevering) the Duke of Kyrwen as Lord High Marshal, placing all military responsibility on his shoulders. His enemies supported the move, thinking he was sure to fail and thus be discredited and removed as a political rival. Instead, he won a stunning truce with the Azaryans with little bloodshed by clever use of Kyrwen's navy to out-manuever the enemy. As Lord High Marshal was also one of the ceremonial titles of the old Beshtrian king, there is growing support to make him (or his son) the king of reunited kingdom.
Azarya - Beyond the Burashi steppes to the north of Beshan, lies the large arid realm of Azarya. Most of the empire is desolate wasteland peppered with small scattered settlements wherever there is a trade route or a site of resources. Azarya's central position in the continent is one of it's greatest strengths. The eastern portion of the empire, where the river Azar flows to the sea, is less hostile and the site of fertile fields which feed much of the empire. Its capital however, is far to the west, surrounding a large oasis which is sustained through magical means. Azarya has a complex relationship with magic, as a few centuries ago it was under the thrall of a foreign necromancer, which left the culture with a strongly ingrained suspicion of magic and the dead. The current rulers are theocratic priest-kings descended from a culture hero who (with the aid of his deity) liberated his people from the necromancer's rule. It was also this line who instituted the mage-slave system: all children are tested for magical talent early in life. Those with it are taken away and fitted with a slave collar which allows control over them to an overseer. They are treated well, and trained in the proper use of their powers, but they are essentially property of the Emperor and form a professional corps of battlemages and engineers.
I've got several other cultures on that world, but the details are escaping me at the moment and I don't have my notes here at work.
