The Toad hops in mysterious ways.
This pure mountain spring water is indispensable. Literally. I'm out of paper cups.

This is the worst kind of nightmare: the kind that's real. You haven't been allowed to sleep for nearly two days. Your Powersuit provides your body the energy it needs to stay awake for weeks, but it's still difficult not to doze off.

As for the shadow clones, they're harmless yet indestructible. They just hang out here, constantly spewing phrases like:

"TURN BACK"
"CEASE PRODUCTION"
"RELEASE THE POWER STARS"
"YOUR WORLD IS DOOMED"

They're right, too. The source of the Origin's growth is without a doubt the continued strain on the Power Stars. As long as the Tower of Heaven continues to drain energy from the Stars, the world will slowly be ripped apart.

The Power Stars are right above you, nitwit! Took your kingdom a while to find them, but they're all here: Thunder Star, Aqua Star, Forest Star, Fire Star and Photon Star. They're being held in anarchy-proof containers which steadily sap their infinite pools of energy. Yes, "anarchy-proof" means that a Magic Blast from your hand cannon wouldn't so much as dent them.

You can hear someone coming. Sounds like Peach and Grimtoad, probably here for another experiment. What a ruthless bunch.

You hop to a nearby ledge and push one of the babbling shadow clones out of the way. They're not such bad guys once you get to know 'em.

Peach and Grimtoad shuffle into the basement. Grimtoad's carrying some sort of double-tipped floaty star staff. He speaks up like some sort of mad scientist.

"Hahahaha! Finally, nearly a week of effort and the Starbinder is complete!"

Peach kneels a little to near herself to his level. Being a Human, she dwarfs him in size. "But are you sure you want to do this? What if we create another star and the Origin keeps growing?"

Grimtoad waves his hand dismissively. "Doesn't matter. I'll just scatter the stars across the planet and collapse the Tower once we're done."

She gasps. "Collapse the Tower!? You hadn't told me that part of the plan! What will happen to the civilians and the slaves? There has to be another way!"

He thinks for a moment. "Maybe... if I can show your mother and father that I was right all along, they'll agree to stop production. If that doesn't work, I'll collapse the Tower, grab Mario and Luigi - hello, by the way, Luigi - and we'll live peacefully ever after!"

Despite being a coward, the Powersuit makes you a sore spot down here. You wave to Grimtoad and Peach.

>Remember

Remember what? You've always been this way. Well, not with the Powersuit, that's just a nice bonus.

If you want a full recap, let's see... you grew up with Mario in the Tower of Heaven's military bunkers. Both of you were trained from birth to be soldiers, but violence sort of makes you cringe. You thought if you both applied to be a Child of Magic - an inspirational military squadron leader, and the reason you were given the Suit - you could maybe make some change around here.

Didn't really work out the way you thought it would. You and Mario just ended up doing the powerhouse work - the jobs they saved just for people in Powersuits. For instance: guarding this newfound threat to the world here. Not like you can really do anything about it.

Grimtoad's staff thingy starts glowing. He starts chanting.

"Power of the Stars... Forest Star... help me bind this blemish to an earthly coil!"

We should've named ourselves Cloud Strife.
