A voice from outside the shop calls in: "Hello? What's all the commotion about?"

Mary-dee rushes outside to talk to her father. Luigi quickly nabs an item from the shop - an Empty Bottle - but has no idea what it does. He follows her outside.

"Ah, Pa-pa, it was terrible! A horrid man in a funny suit cut Dasmund up all to pieces!" Mary-dee, being a child, doesn't really have the right words for the encounter. "Then he flew off after the pink-faced person saved me."

Her father addresses Luigi. A look of terror is clearly visible in his otherwise hollow expression. "Ai-ai-ai... my eternal gratitude to you, green man. I will ask Ma-ma if she can do anything about Dasmund. But don't you have a quest to complete?"

Mary-dee understandably starts bawling and rushes to her father's side. She's not coming along any more.

"Ah... I'm sorry, but you know how these things are," says the green man. Luigi nodded. He is a soldier at heart, so he knows how crushing civilian deaths can be, especially within small groups like this village. "But the path isn't terribly rough. Just keep climbing the vines and cliffs and you'll reach the top eventually."

Luigi cannot combine two items without the assistance of a Goomba! Plus, it's not like the empty bottle is taking up a lot of space.

He finds himself at the base of Hoohoo mountain. A vast quantity of steps and cliffs overlay one another, creating a sort of natural - if irregular - staircase to the peak. Vines, perhaps for climbing, dot the areas which can't be ascended by walking.

A Beanie (the Beanbean Kingdom's version of a Goomba) sits on a small rock step, sun-bathing.
