Apart from the fact I've been rather vague (not deliberately obtuse, just a general non-committal thing), you're not going to find out my SSN that way, because I don't
have an SSN. And I've made frequent references as to the fact that I'm not in the US (not including my tendency to talk about "armour", etc, although that's practically everywhere English-speaking that isn't in the US, isn't it? How do you Cananananadians typically spell it?).
But I know for a fact that I've made a historic post that at least narrowed down my place of residence (and have I ever said anything about my place of birth?) to perhaps several hundred square miles or so, but that could easily encompass.... six cities? And numerous other large towns with their own administrative districts that might well be the locale stored in the given cross-matching records. I might have even mentioned an
exact city, although I don't recall this, but the population of the city itself is well above half a million, the county is one of the top ten by population in the whole country and has a number of administrative sub-divisions of which I could be a member. And
that information may narrow down the options a bit, but not significantly.
Let's see, shall I tell you something of my own SSN-equivalent identifier? Ok, it starts with a J and ends with a D. Good luck with that. It was going to end in A, B, C or D (or M and F for temporary issues, though they wouldn't have started with the J), and is a 'spare' character that's not even for checksum purposes but for something perhaps slightly more arbitrary. You'd have much more fun with select details of my Driving Licence number, especially a sample of the main digits (you could guess at several possibilities of my exact birthday, if you know the obfuscation rule being used, which you can probably look up easily enough) and the main letters (tied even more tightly to my actual surname).
So, now you can be sure (or find out for sure, if you're bothered, as if I haven't already made it quite plain in other posts) which country I'm in, maybe take a guess as to the county. The city... if I haven't actually spelt it out, at any time, then it perhaps is a bit too vague, still, and you might still be able to match against examples in one of the other nine top-ten counties in the nation. Of course, even matched down to the city (of residence, not necessarily birth) if you found "a person" that you thought was me, matching or failing to match the J and D might be of use for ruling that candidate in or out... But then it's also quite possible that I've consistently bent (or even flipped) any number of truths about myself that I've apparently revealed (including the J and D?). Just saying that to lay a few extra seeds of doubt... Hey, maybe I've been utterly honest! Or have my circumstances changed since I was honest (making them now lies) or since I lied (making some possible wishful thinkings now a truth!)? Oh, what a conundrum for you... Perhaps you'd be better to subpoena the IP logs or registration information from bay12forums instead... (Or actually
be Tarn or his brother, to avoid that whole mess in the first place.) That's probably an easier first lead to take, if you can get it. That might give you the initial pointer you need. But which email address did I register from, because it might not be the one trivially connected to my RL identity. Still, it's a start.
(If you ever
do send me a letter, give me a phone call, visit me at home or at work, or leave a message at my parents' house, cheers and all. But I'm going to have to tell you that you really need to do something more constructive with your time and freedom to wander the world, willy-nilly. Have you tried
Geohashing?)
