All them captured badgermen - wat do?
« on: December 28, 2011, 04:10:44 am »

You can't tame them.
You can't train them.
You can't butcher them.
Chucking them down the magma chute is getting old.

Wat do?

This is why before world gen you set butchering sentients to Acceptable under ethics.

Axes, arenas, terrify the peasants, nature preserves...  Whatever you can think of.  If you can only think of one thing to do with a live, restrained animals, you may need to spend more time in the mines until you dwarf up a little.

Build a habitat entirely separate from your fortress(I would go with a jungle city type of look), then release them and all future captured badgermen into it. Slowly creating a thriving badgerman metropolis.

Tie the badgermen around in a 5x5 square.
Make sure the centre of the square is at the bottom of a pit.
Drop a goblin in there.
The badgers will then swarm the goblin (in a 3x3 fashion, as to not cushion his fall).
Stroke your twirly moustache and the cat on your lap because you're obviously a fucking evil mastermind.

Make a huge arena where you chuck in nobles and make them fight to the death against the badgermen using copper daggers. Useful for that annoying mayor that wants you to make him some adamantine cups...

Probably not impressive.  Giant badgers would be more fitting for an arena like that.  Badgermen aren't as impressive, they're more apt for the "ceremonial slaughter" type.  Let the people watch the glory of bloodshed.

Giant Badger metropolis is nicer. Plus more challenge when you have to cull the population.

True, but you can't pretend your dwarves are pioneers pillaging their ancient jungle metropolis with giant badgers.

Why not? Badgers are cultured and smart enough to build their own cities.

Good change to begin some more !!SCIENCE!!

How advanced culture can badgermen do?
Are they smart enough to neutralize magma vent that will be activated in 5 years?

Badger City, that is.

Under entity_forest,
change [CREATURE:ELF]
to [CREATURE:GIANT_BADGER].

Then repeat for entity_evil and entity_plains.

!FUN!.

And Badgermen even more so. I just think if you're going to go through the trouble of creating a jungle metropolis, you could at least go the extra mile of making it a jungle metropolis filled with a long forgotten race of animal people. That way it seems mystical and interesting, and not just, "Oh shit, this ancient city is infested with Badgers!".

I'd think the Dorfs would be more preoccupied when the Giant Badgers learn how to open doors...

Clever sow...
