Outpost liason is acting weird...
« on: December 28, 2011, 01:27:06 am »

Okay, first he arrives with the elf caravan. Repeatedly. He never travels with dwarf merchants.

Then he takes two seasons, literally, to finish his meetings.

It took him ten years to offer to make my fort a duchy; but after that, every single visit he promoted my (thankfully mostly non-annoying) duke.

Seriously, WTF?

1. He's obviously a traitor, murder him and fashion a flail out of his skin. Use it to kill elves.
2. Sometimes the mayor is too busy and does his meetings in 2 second bursts across multiple months.
3. As above.
4. 'Wtf' is the usual reaction to seeing anything in this game.

That might be it; I traded using lots of extra stacks of roasts, and ended up about thirty thousand over what I wanted from the traders. Since I didn't want them to spoil on the way back from the trade depot, I just let the traders have the extra...

Planning the dwarf-leather flail now, thanks for the advice. :P

Nonsense! I think you should try the eternal badger torment technic some clever villain devised a few threads ago.

Wouldn't the badgers just kill each other?

Why would they kill each other?

Well, I thought that if you crowded animals, they'd fight...

They don't fight on restraints?

They'll only fight if they're stuck on the same tile with nowhere else to go.

Then he takes two seasons, literally, to finish his meetings.
Pause game as soon as meetings are starting. Spam designations with mouse. Meetings still happen in 'pause-time'. Have all meetings be cleared within 2 seconds. This trick also works for caravans loading/unloading their goods. May screw up an organised military training session.

Or, just make sure the Mayor's not busy doing something else, since holding meetings is actually very low on the list of job priorities in the game. If they have ANYTHING else they can do, they will do it first before meeting with the liason or whatever. You need to make sure they're completely free. You sure that wasn't the problem?

Centration. Similar to Spacestation 13, but in 3D and first-person. Sounds damn awesome.

He's one of those dwarves whose daily routine goes eat/sleep/drink/party, actually. So he's technically busy most of the time, even when I don't assign him anything.
