I really hope you post a blurb about it, at least . Usually you need either an actual book or a excerpt to get readers hooked. Also, though I'm ignorant about law, I think you should go ahead and write the book and reprint/post on forums all the hell you want. In Korea, there is this really famous fantasy author that started by posting 2-3 pages of her story, written on the spot, on a TELENET forum. She has now went on to sell millions of books in the Asia region, including a large amount of her 100% forum printed book that was reprinted in paper. She is Jun Minhee <전민희> and is well known in Korea, known in Japan but unknown to the Western world.

*not* a harry potter book based on friendship, magic (there IS magic, but just, dirtier) and is quite frankly done with the intent to bring back the gritty noirish and dark tone of the past, all with the cold steeled iron of science fiction.

The author has the possibility to take himself not seriously.
The reader on the other hand should seriously read and open mouth later.
This book contains acts of war, which will be vividly depicted, it contains strong scenes which might even rival those over-budget Hollywood films with overpriced stars. There is not going to be a "pew pew" line and then a time jump. Bullets will fly. Bullets will hit. Blood will be scattered.
So I do not suggest these book to the following categories:
1)People who cannot distinguish a book from reality
2)People who have to make a point of their religions, every, single, time. Even when in a book.
3)People who might easily be offended by mass genocide of alien civilizations.
4)People who might easily be offended by mass genocide of human civilizations. (if you were fine with the one before, and not with this one, you should rethink a bit yourself)
5)People who actually think this book should be burned to preserve human innocence (i think this too, just so you know, but it kept nagging to come out, so i'll do it)
6)I’m sure there is a sixth, seventh and probably infinite amount of categories of people who should not read this book.

So, who should read this book?
This book should be read by the following individuals:
1)Those who wish to take their minds off a boring day
2)Those who want a valid excuse not to listen to their wife’s ranting
3)Those who think buying books out of unknown authors is a fine way to improve the world
(and my wallet)
4)People who can think and not stop at the first line.
5)People who love space. Space battles. High technological battlefields. Explosions!

Why not finish writing it first? There's no substitute for a bit of elbow grease - just put in the work, and write for yourself.

on that piece, i can't answer, i don't know, and maybe my elbow grease disappeared into the sink.
Mind you, i'm not saying i'm lazy, i just find it more natural to write stuff which does get a feedback, than writing stuff which does not.

Oh, i dunno about natural talent, or not.
i just know that as long as i can imagine the scene, there are far enough words to describe it. Worst to worst there's the dictionary.

I can't get over this. "My books are for SMART PEOPLE who CAN THINK and ARE SICK OF THEIR NAGGING WIFE with REAL WARS not at all like HOLLYWOOD PHONIES".  Either write or don't, but let your work speak for itself. 

Literally no one who prefaces their theoretical works with something like that is as good as they think they are, or even cultivating the sort of fanbase anyone would want.

Hey, no need to scold him like that. He came for help, give him help, but in a "normal" way, rather than scolding him right away. But I have to agree with Capntastic.

All I did was rephrase what he wrote without changing the meaning, and pointed out how off-putting it is, and how that sort of attitude is repulsive to prospective readers.  If someone puts up a front of having such an immense opinion of themselves, sometimes the harshness of reality is precisely what they need.  Trust me when I say that I held off in a way I consider to be more than gracious.

Also, I agree with Capntastic. You can't go off advertising your book as some amazing and intelligent and exciting thing without anything to show for it. If those are your goals, that's great, but there's a difference between having goals and apparently assuming that you'll meet those goals extremely well.

The thing that I don't really like is that you're trying to make the book sound like it's "edgy" and "cool" and only the cool kids who don't get easily offended should read it.

It sounds like you're writing an ultra-violent war book, which already exists. Most people who read books about bloody war, "dirty" magic, and the like aren't doing so because they think they're smart.

Give it to them finished but pre-edited(at the earliest).
Take in the criticism and consider if you want to change anything.


Asking people for criticism and help on an unfinished work would knock even the most determined person.
Unfinished work is unfinished, you cant get constructive criticism with only part of the story.
