How viable are drones if you tech them heavily?

Fairly viable, at least with a sunspot. Pretty useful even with single-bay ships, especially vs zombies if you go with zapper drones. They tend to work like PD, but better.

Damage wise, they're there but not entirely the most impressive. Bright sides is they can occasionally screw with the computer's AI and even without that, a cloud of them can block shots from time to time. They're just pretty all-around useful.

From what I've seen so far they're also very useful if you're using cloak. My solution for pretty much every enemy I run up against is to circle them in my Flora holding down M2 while my drones peck away. The reveal for missile firing isn't enough to let them get a lock, so I can usually drop stations without taking armor damage. On top of that, a pair of escorts armed with nothing but particle cannons and reactor + cannon boosters are absolute murder, especially if you time your firing to let you kite enemy ships while your escorts pound on them.

Aurora on small monitors:
1. Game Parameters -> Reduced Height Windows.
2. Lock taskbar to the right side of your desktop.
3. Run Resize Enable

I will have to try that. Which drone do you use?
