Alright folks. The dorf/mayor's lists SHOULD be up to date now. I added the 3-days condition to the OP.

Broseph Stalin cancels surf: Consumed by rage!

You based a succession off of my Broseph Stalins Glorious Super Awesome End All Be All Lord of All Things it Surveys Dwarf Village Challenge without inviting me!?  I demand a turn! Or I beg for a turn, whichever one of those things is going to work is what I'm doing.
I resubmit my requests/demands!

Any plans for when the update comes around (presumably in the next few days)? I don't really know how new versions of the game effect old worlds, but I assume much of the new content won't magically appear in this one.

In all honesty, no. I'll probably gauge the interest and, if it is still present, start again(unless there is a better option).

I got fed up with my fortress, so I decided to kill everyone (abandon is for elves) with a cave-in.

OK, cave-ins were always pretty deadly, but with the new falling object damage they are downright brutal.  As far as I can make out from the logs, many people were killed by the flying bodies of other victims.  One baby's corpse ricocheted off three other people, two walls and the floor.

I'd be up for another fort like this in the new version. I've forgotten a lot of the specifics on the new update, but I'm sure that the farm town style would have some unique challenges.

I'd say go for it. The "fort" has been rather dead for the past couple weeks and it'd be nice to see some progress.

Well, I think this is dead now that the new version is out. I'll go about creating a new one. Should I port the mayor/dorf lists over?

Yes, I will continue to demand/beg for a turn.

I continue to want a swordsdorf, trader or smith of some kind. Preferentially all three.

[Partially inspired by Broseph Stalin's thread here ]

Howdy!

Now I know most of you don't like it up here on the surface too much. But fer some of us, there ain't nothing better than the wind in our beards, a sturdy farmhouse, an' the smell o' fresh goblin blood in the fields.

If you find yourself thinkin' similar, join right up! Just scricht yer name done and come on in! (or just get dorfed)

But befer' you go about rushin' about like a danged fool, ya best read the rules

The Rules:

Version is .31.25, vanilla. The general vision is to build an above-ground agrarian farming community. Accordingly, there are several restrictions and goals this fort will have/want to achieve.

First and foremost, there will be no digging below 1 Z-level, except for the construction of a well, if need be. Digging may only occur within the boundaries of the building above it, UNLESS it is for the purpose of a tunnel between two buildings (eg, a passageway between the guardhouse and the watch tower.) "Success" for this fortress will have two conditions:(besides that of survival)

I. Providing a good life for each dwarf
II. Maximising Value of agricultural exports

Essentially, we should aim to export as much of every plant, food, animal, and craft as we can produce. Not only does this fit with the farming-town theme, but we will also need to import various products in substantial quantities. There are a few other restrictions that are best adapted into point form:

I  - Every dwarf must get his own house, with food, clothing, weapons, etc stored in each basement.

II - No professional militia. Every dwarf should have a weapon stored in his house and be ready if the call to action sounds

III - At least some of the industry should be based around individual homes(ie, the cloth maker has his equipment in his home). This condition isn't as important, however.

IV - Most importantly, have !!FUN!! This is a DWARF farmin' town, after all.

RULE V: IF YOU DO NOT BEGIN YOUR TURN WITHIN THE 3 DAYS OF IT BEING ASSIGNED, YOUR PRIVILEGE IS FORFEIT

The post will all the important bits will be up later. In the meantime, post to get added to the dorf/mayor's list if you're interested.
