Dorf me up, and I'll sign on for a turn, too! I've thought about doing something like this for a long time but never got around to it. Perhaps each overseer could be the village's mayor or something.
That's what I was thinking. Should work well.
The year was 252. The Lancer of Mornings's ruling nobility has just recently quashed an attempted rebellion by Korgan Orkikirost, a prominent surface farmer. Spared from death or imprisonment, he is banished with his followers to form a colony far from home.
He and his companions undergo a month-long trek across the Dimensions of Dawn, before reaching the Jungle of Thrones, on the Muscular Continent. They will found their village in a secluded river-valley.
The Dimensions of Dawn
Note: Irsolon is on the top half of the large continent to the right, in the forest in the shadow of the mountain.Seven dwarfs, including Korgan, completed the trek alive. All are an odd mixture of woodworker and farmer. They are:
Catten Zonorrun
Ator Geburdim
Zasit Deleravuz
Tulon Mumuzoshrir
Mosus Ingizecem
Fath Bomrekled
And, finally, Korgan
Journal of Korgan Orkikirost, Mayor of Irsolon[Newflags]
1rst Granite, 252
Well, we're finally here! Ole' bastards couldn't kill me yet! An it look like I got m'self stuck wit' a good group o' dorfs, not some a bunch o' dirt-digging softbrains! I put the ole' wagon to a stop here. I don't think are any good-like at swimmin' anyways, so we might as well stop in front o' yonder river.
But yikes! If the rats ain't huge here!
3rd Granite, 252
Well, we got ourselves the first taste o' whats to come, ain't we. That big ole' rat, what our book-keeper and trader-like, Missus Fath Bomrekled been callin' a "gizzard bear", come down the mountain and start chewin' on one of my dwarfs! Now I rallied up a posse good an' quick-like and taught that son bitch a lesson, but that don't change the fact that the ole rat-face chewed a coupla good holes in me trader, and at the hand an' leg o' two of me wood dorfs!
Fath Bomrekled:
Zasit Deleravuz:
Tulon Mumzoshrir:
I set about fixin' a hospital up in a jiffy. None of us can do any doctorin' business, but Mosus was a butcher an I figured that be darn close enough.
19th Malachite, 252
I been pretty Armork-damned busy lately, so I ain't updated me journal. Things have been pretty slow. Mosus managed to get Fath and Zasit back on their feet with the help o' a few crutches. Them ladies pretty tough-like.
A few migrants arrived. The look on their faces when they seen what we been building was priceless! Almost as good as the one when they heard me tell em we ain't digging underground! Building is going pretty good right now. Hopefully we can git houses and all that set up(I have secretly given myself the biggest, but I feel I deserved it on account of my killing that rat.)
I fink we' gon need to build ourselves a bridge soon enough. We need to cut down trees from across the river if we want to keep building. Still, I don't much like the look of those panda-men yonder across the river.
12 Sandstone, 252
Well, we got ourselves a better town goin' now, with some more migrants to boot. But I still dun like the look of them panda men, and they're guardin all the wood! One o' these days, I'm going to go about making sure they pay.
23 Sandstone, 252
Well, I've certainly had better ideas. I had finally had enough of them beady-eyed panda no goods, so I rounded up a big ole' posse and decided to give them a piece o' my mind. At first things were going great, and the bunch o' cowards fled like a big ole pack o' fluffy wamblers!
But then they done run into the trees, and my boys git separated. We lost 2 good men, and I took a right beating. Those bastards are still out there too, an' we only managed to bag one. Anywho, Fath will run things while I take a little break in the hospital.
27th Obsidian, 252
Well, this year had its ups an downs all right. Me' leg is ruined, and I have to use a crutch fer the rest o' me natural life. We lost two more good dwarfs this past year too - those panda bastards nabbed another on a logging run, and another fell through the ice when it began to thaw. Anyways, Newflags has been growing well. We have more houses going up, and food an liquor production are stable(thank Armok!) We still have a lot of expanding to do, and if we want a bit o' gold in our purse, we best be getting some industry set up. All we have now is an ole' carpenters shop. Also, some fandy-pandy trade notary was pokin' about. I told him to bring weapons, stone, an armour. We won't be caught off guard next time around.
Hopefully the next mayor can handle things.
