A funny thing i should have seen coming...
« on: December 24, 2011, 07:02:21 pm »

So i turned off all the labors for my dutchess, except for mechanics, cause she's good at it. I want her to have lots of time to make friends and relax, her being a noble and all.
I also have a couple "corpsemen" as i call them. ALL these dwarves do is cleaning, soap/lye making, and burial, so that no other dwarves have to waste their time on such things.

Well, alot of times, there's no mechanics, soap/lye making, cleaning, or burial to do, so they spend alot of time together in the dining hall and statue garden.

are you seeing where this is going?

My dutchess just married one of my corpsemen, leading to one of the disney-fairytale-est things ive ever seen happen in this game.

Congratz. Their babies will know how to make soap and operate machines.

You've doomed us all.

Having a suspended storage area of soap with an openable chute that will funnel it all ontop of your guys is just bad Architecture.

The baby probably designed it whilst they were still in the womb. A true Dorf  :'(

Funny, my lead mechanic usually is busy as hell, constantly turning blocks of stone into mechanisms, thus not freeing up much space, but generating a lot of value, potential levers, traps and whatever.

Oh well. Check the corpseman's info. Maybe he is a pretty cool person despite landing a bad job.

Isn't checking his info what landed him the job in the first place?

not exactly. He simply showed up with no usefull skills, so he was sent to the bottom of the barrel.

No, he's turning boulders into mechanisms - blocks cannot be used to produce anything.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Except walls, wells and other such constructions.
