Donitz lets the guards finish their drinks before leading them to a private room, dark alleyway, or somewhere else a bit less public.
"Now then. We have reason to believe these Paladins are up to something fishy. We need to find out if that is the case. I have a plan to catch one or two off guard and bring them in for questioning."
The bard produces his lute and plays a few soft notes as he talks. "I thought to myself, what kind of situation could catch a person off guard? The obious answer would be a party. However a Paladin, or somebody pretending to be one, might be a bit too prudeish to attend just any party. We need an event so pure and lilly white even a Paladin could attend!"
Donitz strums the first few bars of 'here comes the bride'. "I want to throw a wedding! And kidnap one of the Paladin's during the festivities!"
Looking each guard in the eye Donitz drops his voice to a near whisper. "You guys know this town far better than I. What I would like of you is to work out the details. We need a bride, a groom, a venue that preferably sits near the city gates, wedding supplies, and a cart or carts to hopefully smuggle an unconcious Paladin out of town."
Donitz puts a gold piece on the table and spins it, picking up the tempo of his tune to match the rate of rotation. "If you can't find a young couple that is already engaged, see if you can find some kids who hate the Paladins and would be willing to enter into an arranged or faked marriage for our purposes. Worst comes to worst I can be the groom. Once you guys figure out how much this is going to cost, let me know. Feel free to include a fee for your services in that figure. My accomplice and I will run through some dungeons to raise the coin."
Donitz hands each of the guards 1200 gold. "Use this to make people talk, or to shut people up as need be. If you don't need it, feel free to consider it as part of your pay. There is an alleyway just across the street where you can leave me messages, and I will likely stop by the school often if you want to arrange a meeting with me. Any questions?"
