Zario knew he made a mistake in attacking people in broad daylight, but there was no sense in pondering mistakes now. He slapped the back leg of his horse to get it out of the line of fire. It wouldn't get far with a bolt lodged in it, but it probably wouldn't get hit again. Zario started chanting up a firebolt or two as he drew his blades, waiting to strike down the first of the charging merchants.

((Oh well. Bad plan, free loot. Now to survive the bad plan.))

Griph defended Donitz from the wolf. It was cut up, and its blood spew out. Behind him, the skeletal wolf attacked and tried to bite Griph. He received 29 damage, and what he suspected would be a bruise. Donitz got up and bashed the skeleton for 42 damage. It cowered and fled back a few steps, before circling again. Another glob of white light flew into the corpse. It, too, stood up as a skeleton.

Zario created a firebolt and flung it at the archer. He then started swinging his swords at the closest people. Thankfully, they seemed to be rather inept, and he could foresee their every move. A blade arced in, he blocked and kicked. Swung a sword, cut through flesh, block another blow. The archer was getting up again. Two people lay before him, and three more were charging. Zario felt a tremor from somewhere.

Charge one of each type of spell, then send it at skeleton 1.

Zario called out pointing a blade at them, "Take your wounded and leave. You aren't a match for me. You'll all die like these two if you keep this up." If something was coming his way he would rather not be flanked. He tried looking left and right without moving his head away from them, leaving an opening for the merchants might make them think they actually stand a chance.

Griph charged two firebolts and two lightning bolts with Donitz covering him. He sent them all at one skeleton. The fire was packaged in the lightning and arced at both wolves. They flew back a couple meters onto the ground, and whatever ungodly magic kept them going flickered out. The dark shadow on the hill melted into the night.

The merchants glared at Zario. They seemed to be weighing the pros and cons. Muttering among themselves, they decided to slowly back away without letting their eyes off him.

"Yeah. A bit shaken up. I'm just glad you got that wolf before he got my throat."

Donitz brushes himself off. "Shall we press forward, or set up here for now?"

Zario started moving towards their supplies. "You'd best keep walking." He glared at the merchants with his swords drawn. "Take your waterskins and a days worth of food, and leave your bags on the ground. Don't even try to take anything else." Revenge was sweet, and he might want something to trade with the formians in the ruins. Still the tremor concerned him. He wouldn't want to be on the road for very much longer.

Griph and Donitz continued along the road. Far away, they could see the lights of an encampment.
After an hour or so, they reached the Dugald Woodcamp. There were few people walking around, but at least there was people. Usually, monsters did not attack large encampments, unless they had a leader, or a motive to do so.

Revenge was sweet, and he might want something to trade with the formians in the ruins. Still the tremor concerned him. He wouldn't want to be on the road for very much longer.

The merchants slowly backed away, reluctant to drop their stuff, when their eyes widened and all turned tail, running as fast as they could. Zario slowly turned around, dreading what he would see. Behind him was a huge golem with a yellowish rock body with blue crystals embedded in it. The pegmatite golem roared and lifted both of its arms high in the air.

Zario rolled backwards to avoid the golem's crushing blow and started preparing a firebolt or two. He knew he should have looked back. At least the merchants were gone.
