He looked at the hole filled with water. "Well that was lame. I expected more from a succubus' dying words." He let out a sigh of disappointment. "I guess I'll set up camp and wait until morning." Not wanting to touch the orb Zario left it in the blessed water in silent hope that something would happen. He grabbed the tent from his bag and started setting it up only about ten feet from the hole. He'd watch the orb for a few hours thumbing through his spellbook before heading off to bed.

LIllipad:

Griph attempted to create a good torch, but it seemed that ice bolts didn't have freezing power. A couple of pairs of red eyes gleamed at the two.

The Fool:

Zario woke up to a overcast sky. The tent seemed to be very capable at keeping rain off him. Zario got up and went to the hole. He observed that the water had all dried up, with the orb sitting there looking perfectly normal. He picked it up and placed it in his bag again. Eating a quick breakfast, he made sure his horse was saddled. There were a small number of people on the road, mostly walking.

Donitz recalled the Mirror song and started playing it. A pale red oval formed between the eyes and him. Griph drew his sword and peered at what the wan light of the magic revealed: a pair of black dire wolves. They were larger and more ferocious than regular black wolves. Growling, the two splitted, one circling clockwise and the other counter-clockwise.

Zario chanted to himself preparing a few firebolts before the group knew where he was. The odds of them being raiders were slim, but he was too far out to lose his horse now. With a quick flick at the sides of the horse he started down the road. He approached them and rode along side. "I'm an archeologist looking for some Maize ruins. Do you know of any offhand?" His swords might have ruined his lie, but it was worth a shot.

"I'm an archeologist looking for some Maize ruins. Do you know of any offhand?" His swords might have ruined his lie, but it was worth a shot.

The people briefly glanced at him, then did not answer. One of them whispered to his friend, "That must be one mad archeologist - he asks for information about Eria in the old continent!"

They seemed to be traders, as they all had either a large backpack of some sort or was pushing a cart. A few of them were armed, but not actively holding their weapon(s).

Charge an icebolt and attack a wolf with it.

As soon as Griph tried to charge a spell, the wolf attacked and battered him. Griph received 7 damage, and his spell was canceled. The wolf hit him twice more (9 total) before prancing backwards and barking.

Donitz tries to keep the shield in phyiscal blocking mode, and cuts off one of the wolves.

Donitz kept the tempo at the same pace, and the shield stayed at that state. Apparently, the tempo decided what the shield blocked; the accuracy of the playing deciding the strength of the shield. Right now, he was making a bunch of mistakes. Still, the shield held. The wolf he was facing kept on circling.

Zario didn't want to waste his time with a fight, but he also didn't want to be insulted without response. He flicked his crimson hair at them. "You clearly don't know what I want to know. Goodbye." He held out his hand, and tossed a firebolt at each of the carts before riding off in a hurry. He had places to be, and it was only morning. There was no sense in wasting time.

>Slam the flat of the broadsword onto a wolf's head, then stab it with the saber.

The wolf's head was loped off and it crumpled to the floor. Griph felt a fleeting sensation of elation over his victory. Then, a small white ball of light flew into it, and it slowly stood up again, flesh melting from bone, as a skeleton wolf. Flicking his head in the way the ball flew from, he saw a tiny portion of sky that had no stars. The shape indicated a humanoid. Running through his internal monster list he learned at school, he tried to think of a humanoid, magic-wielding monster... but he failed to recall any. [Rolled an 11]

Donitz keeps up the tune and continues to do his best to keep the second wolf away from Griph.

Donitz felt shock as the wolf arose again as a skeleton. It disrupted his music for the tiniest portion of a beat, but it was enough for the shield to flicker blue. The wolf he was facing charged and slammed into Donitz. He was knocked over. Donitz knew what was coming next: an easy bite of the throat, and no more Donitz. He flailed his lute about and felt the clunk of metal meeting wolf.

tossed a firebolt at each of the carts before riding off in a hurry. He had places to be, and it was only morning. There was no sense in wasting time.

The carts were singed. The armed people angrily turned on him, and an archer pulled out his metallic crossbow and fired a single bolt that missed Zario but embedded itself into the horse's behinds. It staggered. Zario wasn't an experienced rider, and it was enough to throw him to the ground. He heard the cry of the merchants charging.
