Lylis pouted, and mumbled:
They're alchemic tools. I threw a condensed Fireball. You can...or, with a sparkle appearing in her eyes, I can make them. You need a someone who actually knows the magic to make a crystal. I have a big heap of them in my pack.

The traveler looked at Zario sideways. "Did you swim across the sea or something?" He chuckled at his own joke. "The Maize Plains are right there, in front of us!" He waved at the sea of grass outside of the blockade. "The ruins, on the other hand, are an enigma. The entrance changes every couple of weeks! They always connect to the same place though ..." The traveler was lost in some thought for a moment. "Why do you seek them?"

Zario cleared the drenched hair from his eyes, and looked up at the traveler. "I heard that there was a village of monsters inside, and I wanted to study their architecture and how they changed the ruins to suit their needs. I have a feeling it will be an interesting, yet dangerous trip. Shouldn't be a problem if I keep my distance though." Zario wanted to see if he could make the lie a bit more believable. "I don't suppose you know a store that would have a sketchbook? My book was lost when I fell off the boat that brought me here."

Donitz watches the school intently for a bit to get a feel for the place before whipping out his Lute and beginning to play, singing songs of heroism and valor to attract their attention. (I'll spend a point on my musical performance here)

"Where is your teacher or guardian?"

I'm my own teacher and my guardian!, she claimed. After some stern staring, she relented, and said she learned her craft from Doren, who lived in far-away Taltin.

"I don't suppose you know a store that would have a sketchbook? My book was lost when I fell off the boat that brought me here."

"Ah, well, Alex sells such supplies like dowsing rods, sketch paper and the such. I heard that there was an actual village in the plain... though the plain is large enough that there is a good chance you can't stumble on it anyways. Well, here's a abstract map of the surroundings. The reddish star is the last recorded position of the Maize Ruins. No, no need to pay me - I was planning on leaving for some safe dungeon studying. Good luck, stranger, and  fare well! Oh, and condolences on your lost book."

The traveler waved his hand and started towards the docks.

The guards did not pay much attention, though the ones who were chatting started to gather around.

Looking at the rough map he knew this would be a very long trip. Dowsing rods though? Next to a massive body of water? I suppose I can ask about them while making my story look good.

Donitz turns to the guards who have gathered around and offers a smile. "Greetings. It is good to see that the guards of this town are still attentive enough to pick out good music, and valorous enough to be inspired by it."

The bard strums a few chords and continues softly. "Those Paladins don't see that though do they? They are here to take your jobs and perhaps all of our lives. I have been tasked, by someone of importance in this town, to solve this issue. If you wish to consider standing with me, meet me at the tavern once you get off duty. We can then find a private room to talk in. Just know that if you rat me out to them, I will not name my employer, and he will send another like me."

With that Donitz makes his way to the alleyway without another word to the guards, and leaves a note for Griph. You can ask the girl. Perhaps she could fix that deportation device up for you! I doubt we will need this Doren. I already have a plan. Stay out of trouble for now, and buy a nice suit. I'm going to prank them so hard Pierro will smile and we will learn what they are up to.

Donitz then heads to the market and looks to buy a suit, and then browses the potions, music, and gadgets for sale in search of something that could help him escape from the tavern should the guards sell him out.

Eosri tries not to frown at how costly the armor is, even though he's always had the memories of the prices.
"Mellis, do you have any metal around so that I can make armor for less cost?"

>Head to the merchant named Alex, and buy a set of dowsing rods before setting up a tent for the night.

Ho! A new face! Of course, I see new people every single day. And some not-people, if you get my gist?
The person who greeted Zario was a woman with a strong-looking face, in which were set a pair of sparkling eyes like that of a wild animal. She had wide shoulders and was muscular. Her hair was brushed anywhichway, and fell naturally past her collarbones.

"So... I'd like to buy some sketching paper, a folder, and dowsing rods. Tell me, why would you need dowsing rods next to the ocean?"

Alexina looked at Zario queerly, a look which Zario had been receiving much the past few days.
Are you really an archaeologist? Why do you need a dowsing rod, you ask. Of course you need dowsing rods! You may have only seen fake dowsing rods in the old continent. These are real, genuine, magical and mass produced rods! Some people, 'specially the people who made 'em, call them 'L rods'. They respond to hidden ruins, not water, and actually work! If you don't have a pair of L rods on you, you would walk straight through a couple hundred ruins before you met an already exposed one!

She handed Zario a bundle of 20 sketching paper and drawing tools, a dowsing rod and a folder for 1400 gold.

In Zario's dream, a shrouded figure told him in resounding tones, 'Why do you not seek me?'
'I betted on you...'
'Bring me back ...!'

And then he elapsed into a regular dream.
He remembered the first and last lines when he woke up to a sunny sky.

Donitz headed to the bustling town square. He bought a potion condenser. It was a machine that used three potions of the same type and one magical reagent to create one potion. If Donitz used a base potion as the reagent, the merchant said, he would create a higher-powered potion. Of course, drinking a 30x3->1 potion would cause quicker potion poisoning than one 100 potion. It was bought for 14000 gold. He also bought three mist bombs. They would cause a thick cloud to form, about 10 meters in radius, if he broke one. They cost 9000 gold for three.

He also bought a bag of scribing tools: they purportedly made his composed music more potent, and also would inform him of the type and duration of the effect of magical music. 5000 gold.

Meanwhile, the suit was a bit harder to obtain. Because most people had little use for formal clothing, the suit industry became tailored for nobles and rich men, using ever more expensive materials and more handiwork. The cheapest suit available was 110000 gold, way over his budget.

Eosri tries not to frown at how costly the armor is, even though he's always had the memories of the prices.
"Mellis, do you have any metal around so that I can make armor for less cost?"

Of course, Eosri. I can sell you iron bars and leather material, and also lend you my blueprints. The Memorial Tower will supply the skill. I ask only thirty thousand (30000) gold pieces in return.

Well swimming may have been draining, but I have a lot of traveling to do for those ruins. Maybe there's another horse stable in camp? I have a lot of ground to cover, and if I know the Griph he'll try and hunt me down. I'm lucky he didn't try anything while I was being tossed, or else I might have been a hell of a lot further back.

Ignore the fact that you're tired, and find the stables. If there are no stables just start walking.
