Griph charged up one firebolt when he heard Lylis count 'one'. He flung his magic at Zario.
With a "CRACKAKROOM!", the catapult shot Zario into the sky, a human bolt. Immedietly(wrong spelling) after that, the bolt struck home and wrecked the catapult. Apparently, it was more fragile than it seemed to be: it collapsed and billowed out dust. Lylis turned on Griph in anger. Why did you just do that? You meanie! She fished out a crystal that glowed like embers and threw it on the floor. A huge explosion rippled out and inflicted 352 damage on Griph (who was at the epicenter), knocking him into the deadly state, and flung Donitz, Griph, theguard, and some merchants flying. She then collapsed onto the floor and started crying.
Guards started running towards the group. Griph faded out of consiousness...
Zario was in a cloud. He could only see uniform greyness, feel the wisps of cloud, and hear the woosh of wind. 'Strange,' he thought. He had expected a cloud to be more ... Substantial. Like cotton candy, or just cotton. He watched the lights change.
He was falling. The slow rise of vertigo and giddyness was agonizing.
He finally exited the clouds. He could see far off, land! A beach, a wooden stockade, a hint of green! Also, the fact that he was over water.
With a splash, Zario touched down in water. Just before he hit the surface, his speed was cut down to almost zero- no doubt the effect of the crystal. He calmly floated on the surface. The shore was about a kilometer away.
Griph swum to consciousness. He did not feel pain. What he did see was the facade of one angry goddess. You imbecile! she thundered. Why did you use a firebolt, the slowest of magic bolts, when you had lightning bolt!(she paused) At least... at least, you did not die. Good thing magic never kills you in one go. I am... relieved. She walked towards the cell door some. A regret you could not accoust the evil one's proxy. Still, at least you found an interesting thing. Morrigan's puppets and lapdogs not abiding by the law? Hah! A perfect way to weaken her power! Removing the people's absolute trust in their fairness! Nemian walked through the cell bars, becoming more transparent, chuckling as she went. Next to him, Donitz stirred and got up. The cell bars slid open. The man Griph had confronted before let Donitz out. He told Griph in a low whisper, "I'll get you out, boy. Soon as I get the special pardon from the mayor. Stand fast!" He relocked the door and escorted Donitz into the nighttime square.
Next to Griph was Lylis, glaring at him the best she could. A small sign outside the cell informed Griph's crime as 'Disruption of official proceedings, destruction of royal property', and Lylis's as 'Provoked magic attack, unprovoked harm of innocents, intentional attempted manslaughter'.
It seemed clear Lylis's was more serious. Griph looked at his body. It was clear and unhurt, the marvel of modern healing. Apparently, he was to be here for a while.
