ELITE WIZARD HUNTER: THE FORUM GAME: UPDATE 3
You lightly rap at the door. As the flesh of your hand meets the ice-cold wood, a surge of dark magical energy penetrates your body. You convulse, and involuntarily attempt to retract your hand, with no luck. Your hand is pinned to the door. You try pulling it off once more, this time with more strength, and produce a horrible tearing sound as you separate flesh from bone. Relentless, you continue pulling, and manage to successfully free your hand. It hurts. It hurts a lot.
You check over the damage. Raising the back of your right hand to eye-level, you see that the skin is charred black as shadow. It's shorn away around your knuckles, and a crimson liquid is leaking out, providing your hand with a vermillion lustre. You fully remove your bowtie and wrap it around your palm, then tie a knot. The quality cotton is comforting. Now, about that door...
This necromancer apparently doesn't like to play nice. You pick up a shield with your good hand and smash it into the blackened wood. It gives easily. You continue beating until you've produced a hole large enough to fit through without touching an edge. The lack of magical reinforcement is surprising. Once inside, you note that the spire is much smaller than it appeared. Less of a grandiose spire and more like a lighthouse. There are no siderooms -- just a single hallway, slightly inclined, that stretches up into the sky, twisting left for what seems like eternity. Just as you debate whether to ascend to the top, your thoughts are interrupted by a repetitious dripping. You look down and note your bowtie isn't doing a very good job of stopping the bleeding.
