You are in a Sewer
« on: December 20, 2011, 11:42:28 am »

You are in a Tavern.

It smells of stale beer and urine, and the furniture is dilapidated. The fat innkeeper stands behind the bar and doesn't seem to care that you are here. He is whittling a stick with a small carving knife. Roaches scurry about beneath the straw covering the rotten floorboards. Overall you'd rate this tavern a C-, mostly for the smell.

What is your name?
What is your class?
What is your quest?

Yes indeed, you are Farah Lordlord! A self-employed Adventurer registered in good standing with the Adventurer's Guild. You have your membership card right there in your vest pocket!

And your quest? You must find the Gold-colored Amulet of Yendar so that you can free your anonymous benefactor from his chest!

You're not really sure what that means, but it is what the note on the job board said last time you went to the Guild. It really did! So far you've tracked the Amulet as it has changed hands at least 43 times. Or else people have been messing with you. Your last tip was that an Elf who frequents this tavern was last seen with the Amulet but you're really getting the feeling that the nice Gnome was just taking your money and lying to you.

Which means you have no idea where the Amulet actually is.

Then again, an Elf just walked in and sat down at a table while you were brooding angrily. He is wearing commoner's clothing and a long traveling cloak with the hood up. At least you think he's an elf. He's pretty tall. You can't see his ears though. It might even be a girl.

Ask the person if he is an elf. If yes, mug the sh*t out of him/her. If no, offer a cup o ale.

You approach the person's table and, in your best adventurer voice, say, "Pardon me sirrah! Be thee an Elf or be thee a MAN?!"

The person looks up at you with almond-shaped eyes the color of honey. Sensual lips like the smoothest rose petals smile up at you and she begins to respond but you suddenly realize that this woman is indeed an elf, so you proceed to punch her right in the face with your iron-gauntlet-clad fist and scream much too loudly, "Aha! I HAVE THEE NOW AMULET!"

She falls out of her chair due more to the impact of your fist than her understandable surprise at being punched for smiling at a handsome adventurer. You bash her again to ensure her compliance and you quickly begin to strip her person of valuables. You find no amulet but you do come away with a small pouch of coins and a nice ring.

The fat innkeeper yells that you are a lunatic and begins to call for the watch.

You punch the innkeeper in the organic breathing apparatus, otherwise known as the lungs. His face turns beet red as he falls back, arms flailing for purchase and knocking several beer bottles off the shelf. His face then turns a lovely shade of purple before he finally take a ragged breath. As the innkeeper gasps for breath on the floor, you notice that beneath his greasy hair he has pointed ears. Looking closer, you spy a golden glint beneath his shirt and vest! You reach down and rip the Gold-colored Amulet of Yendar!

You stand triumphantly over the two of them, and you realize that you have just gained XP! 1 XP to be precise.

You're not certain exactly how you know this. You're not even sure what an XP is, but you know you have one. You also know that you have 1 Infamy, whatever that is. You don't even know that word. You're just an adventurer after all. It seems like this XP has made you stronger somehow, though. You may possibly have leveled up. You've read about leveling up in the Adventurer's Handbook but you never thought it would happen to you! This is all terribly exciting. You've completed a quest objective and gained a level and punched two people a lot all in about 5 minutes!

Your exultation is cut short as you hear a guard outside yell. "Stop right there criminal scum!" You aren't certain he is talking to you, because he hasn't come inside the Inn. He can't even see you, as far as you know, but you feel like you should probably do something.

DEVIL PUNCHING- I propose we become a vigilante hero known only as THE FIST.

But first things first! We must protect our secret identity and take that most heroic of all escape options, and climb out the bathroom window.

Devil punching. Gotta do those 50 damage Devil punches. And window escape.

As far as canon is concerned, there really isnt anything that should interfere with this, unless you intend to do something with the Devil. I never actually stated where the chest is currently located.
