Maybe the thread wouldn't devolve into a spiral of hate and circle jerking if a) the categories had anything to do with being a good forumer and b) the nominations weren't all in public.

It's pretty standard fare for this sort of thing to have someone collect the nominations in PM to avoid exactly what has happened here.
