Malroth, you have just won some internets.

Unfortunately it dodged into a carp pool, so no dice.

Not a drawing, but DFMA [http://mkv25.net/dfma/] is set up in a great way to view fortresses, especially multilayer ones.

Woodbook was probably my most impressive fortress, and I only finished about half of what I originally planned, due to wanting to switch from square to circle / hex-based architecture (And running out of space on the embark). When the next version comes out I'll probably re-envision it.

Hi, I've stated in the first post that stone essence and other programs (aiming at the one in the link but I forgot the name) was allowed to but for the full effect drawings were more advised.

BTW It's a epic fortress. Well done mate.

I don't think that's exactly relevent to the thread, he said to draw them.

Yeah I know, I was just responding to his comment about multilevel screenshots and giving an example! Ill try and scribble something in paint later

This was Soargold, an orgy of blood and violence that ended when several children were squashed in an effort to capture a FB.

This is the Entrance to My Fortress.
The Fortress is Underground, inside a Cavern.
When You get to the bottom of the Stairs, You step out onto a Wooden Landing.
This is the Landing.
The Cavern is also incidentally quite big, and full of Water, starting from 5 Z-Levels below the Landing.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Bridge on the Right leads to the Fort.
The Left leads to a Dump, where Garbage is thrown into the Water.
The Front one leads to a Well.
The Bottom Paths lead to a Well.

There you go.

The trouble with forts is that they're underground. It's not really easy to draw one room inside a typical fort, let alone an entire fort.

So... here's my attempt at drawing my fort

I had to invert colours since it was pretty hard to see before. It's still kinda hard but I'm not in the mood to mess around with MSPaint.

Yeah this is the entrance to my fort. As you can see, there's nothing except that terribly drawn flowing wall of magma.

You use magma instead of a door? Genius! Now I want one.

Yeah it works wonders. It can also pose as a garbage disposal device or fortress destroyer.

Oh gods.
I just realised.
From the outside, a majority of fortresses simply look like holes in the ground, surrounded by blood, corpses and vomit.

Mine doesnt.
It has Water around it as well!

...Funny story that, actually. The Entrance kinda got accidentally flooded over at one point, so it may or may not be the case that there is actually currently no way outside.
I mean, not that we need one.
