Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

Yeah, please think this through whether this is all worth it, or if anyone you know would be deeply affected.

Assuming you're going to do that, since I have no backstory.

Whatever you do, atomic, remember that everything really can get better. Even when it seems like nothing ever will. Ask yourself, is it really so that you want to die, or is it that you don't want to continue living like you do now? Because you can change. You can change your life. Your problems may seem insurmountable from where you are now, but you belong to the people who climbed the highest mountain in the world. No matter how dark the place you're in might seem, you can climb your mountain too. There will be sun on the other side. It will be hard, changing always is, but if you keep fighting for it, even when it seems the most in vain, you can do it. The pain might seem like it will last forever, but it won't. It never does. Keep fighting.

I know you dream of it. Don't be afraid to make those dreams come true. Don't give up.

Assuming this is actually serious....

Here's a link to my personal anti-depression.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I know you guys mean well. But given this is an internet message board if they wanted to do anything to themselves all they needed to do is send the message and go off to do it. If they were serious there's nothing we can or could do.

It's nice to see the sentiment though. I don't wanna think what kind of crap would pop up in other places.

I think I've already fulfilled that quota.  I felt slightly dickish about it, until Chairman found the last time atomic made a thread like this, including me being just as snide there.

I'd say the best the anti-depressant atomic can get right now is sobriety.

I don't think that matters, Janet. Sometime's when we're feeling down all we want is some attention and encouraging words. A little validation. I see no reason not to try to give them. Showing "weakness" like through making threads like this is a big taboo, especially for males, so just being in a state deep down to feel desperate enough to make a thread about it - drunk or not - validates som recognition, in my opinion.

And then there is this myth that people who actually consider suicide does so in silence and no calls for help, and that only "Drama Queens" and "attention whores" make threads like these. It couldn't be further from the truth - most people will call for help several times before their first suicide attempt, and if they're not taken serious or met with coldness, contempt or ridicule, or even just silence... Well, it'll only deepen any possible depression or general misery. Furthermore, if this was a serious call for help, I'd rather know I said something to help. If people think that is ridiculous or makes me a fool, so be it. I would have a hard time respecting myself if I let some misguided sense of "pride" get in the way of being a good person. And while it's true you probably don't make threads like these without staying to read the responses it gets, that doesn't mean you're not serious about killing yourself - even if you're not about to do it that very moment.

In short, even if it's not serious, showing compassion and sympathy never hurt anyone.

I couldn't agree more. It's better to help people than to be branded one of the causes of a person's downfall. Besides, we don't lose anything by typing helpful, or supportive words.
