Cave Adaption vomit-trails?
« on: December 17, 2011, 07:18:35 pm »

So I have a fortress going, about 7 years in now, and I just made an above-ground, light-exposed statue garden and.. no one is vomiting, I'm confused. Some of the dwarves sitting in this garden haven't seen the sun in 5+ years, but they aren't cave adapted? is this a bug or has cave adaption been changed to prevent the rivers of bile it use to cause?

I checked and they have the "Nauseated by the sun" unhappy thought, but looking around there's no vomit, it's not raining or anything that might wash is away,

Is it outside-aboveground-light, or inside-aboveground-light? The former will aggravate (and eventually reduce) cave adaptation, the latter will not.

outside, above, light. it's on the roof of my entrance because I wanted to have some dwarves on-hand to haul wood who weren't going to be overly unhappy about it. I was shocked at the lack of vomit, though, they were getting the unhappy thoughts, but no one seems to be throwing up from their sun-induced nausea

Vomiting was toned down alot in a previous release in this series.

Do your stairs go all the way to the top layer?  If so, they are probably letting in light that way.

Nope, my main stairs were ~10tiles into the side of a mountain, to get to the above ground area dwarves had to climb to the top of those, go outside past the trade depot then up a constructed obsidian staircase outside.
